Lets hope they have no trouble hitting an incredibly modest 1000 dollar target. It would be a sad day if they couldn’t get that together to be honest, especially for a worthy cause.

    /Cheers,

Hell yeah. Get some vet support going.
1k target is nothing for Twitch, they'll make more.

It's good to see MMORPG.com spreading a good cause like this, thank you guys.

The beauty of our society is that you are free to take that position.
But never forget that the only reason you can say such things is because of the people being remembered tomorrow.

After that last poster on the Boderlands thread I too had a retort for the 'fly in our soup' poster. But now I think we are just letting them troll us, so they are best ignored. Why should this thread have to reply to people like that and get derailed?

Good to see gamers getting involved in your Memorial Day, which I guess is the same as our Remembrance Sunday. If you ever get the chance watch Rated on Forces TV which is a decent games review show, presented mostly by vets.

So a gang kick your door in (if you have one) and decide to kill your family (again, if you have one). Just before they pull the trigger SWAT team raids the house and shoots them down. Your family is safe now. You look at the team's leader, your eyes welling up, you shake your head in disappointment and say "I don't support any group that takes part in human killings."

I'm not saying all wars are like that. But that's not the veterans' fault. If you want to blame anyone for human killings, blame the men who started those wars. Because, if it was up to the vets to decide the fates of wars, I bet there would be no wars at all.

But what do I know. I'm just someone who has survived not one but two war zones. You probably have a better view from your moral high horse, so you're probably right.

As a post 9/11 veteran myself (OEF/OIF 2ndMarDiv) you are 100% entitled to take that position if you want to, that's the beauty of what we do. It's the most selfless thing imo to risk your life and know that the people you are risking it for might not care that you are even doing it.

You still do it, because we as people need freedom, regardless if you want it or not.

There are Government officials, world leaders, politicians, etc that influence the way orders get sent down but one should never, in my opinion, blame the people following the orders. But this is America.. you have the freedom to do as you please, but just know if it weren't for those type of people, this place would be very different.

There is a huge misunderstanding that if people join the military its because they "like to kill people" that's just not true. There are many jobs (MOS) in the service and most of them are not  "killing people jobs" to be honest most don't join to kill, its other reasons. My reason was to pay for school.

Anyway, Groups like these, that do these kinds of things are amazing, you have no idea what people that serve are going through daily unless you've done it, and these gestures help a lot. I just wish people cared about the vets more than 2 times a year... there are thousands of homeless vets etc etc.. but that's another conversation. More power to em

No, he was right the first time. It doesn't matter why our country has chosen to go to war, what matters is we have the 1% of Americans who put their lives on the line to ensure we all stay free. Every man and woman who had died in war since the Revolutionary War has contributed to us remaining free in some way. We don't pick and choose who gets honored on Memorial Day. Whether or not these wars are just today is irrelevant when it comes to honoring those who answer the call and paid the ultimate sacrifice.

I'd find it funny, if one of the streamers was playing something like "The Sims Online" to give us all a kind reminder of what we are fighting for..

Not that I would watch that.. but I would find it funny.

Anyway.. great cause, Support them 100%.

I don’t like many of your positions about games (and society) but I respect the hell out of you and others like you for the sacrifices you have made so that I can sit in safety and nitpick. Supporting veterans AND the families of the fallen is the only cause I would support raising taxes for. We do not do nearly enough for them.
