Vanguard vs Gods and Heroes

Okay, maybe I'm missing something here... but why is the reaction to the Vanguard/SOE deal so much more negative than the (relatively) recent news that Gods and Heroes is also going to be distributed by SOE?  In both cases, the developers are saying that the SOE thing is just distribution and marketing... and yet in G&H's cases, the deal was pretty much dismissed by the fans here as not really changing much.   Vanguard is causing a ruckus, G&H didn't.

Now, I should mention I'm sort of posing this question as a devil's advocate... I am *not* happy with the Vanguard news, but I wasn't happy with the G&H news either.  I'm just wondering why G&H didn't get the brunt of fan outcry the same way.

Mhhmm, did "Gods and Heroes" had people run around posting in forums "come to us, we are not $OE"?

Vanguard and Gods and Heroes are different games, Vanguard is a bigger project with more press and bigger hype. There are a lot of people that opose to Vanguard and the ideas behind it(or the ideas that they believe that are behind it) and there is another segment of the Vanguard folowers that are former EQ players they feel that SOE betrayed them changing the game. So now we have 2 kind of people attacking the game, the vanguard haters and  SOE haters that went to Vanguard looking for an alternative.

And of course there are a lot of people that dont understand SOE's role with Vanguard, they believe that Sigil sold the game to SOE or that Sigil is now part of SOE. Even if that is the opposite, Sigil is now more independent than it used to and SOE is just helping them to distribute, market and run the servers.

So... my initial reaction, that it's pretty much the same deal as Gods and Heroes, is correct?  The difference, I guess, is that G&H is flying lower under the radar, I guess, so there wasn't a rabid fanbase to get upset.

The funny thing about *that*, I think... is that I've always thought G&H is the much cooler, intriguing game.  It may not have the cachet of being from people involved with the original EQ or whatever... but I didn't care much for EQ anyway, so that's a fanboy boat I missed, I guess. : )
