A ruined city, a strong female lead, rogue-like elements, and a crafting system – what more can one ask for? Vambrace: Cold Soul, developed and published by Devespresso Games and Headup, respectively, has all of this and more in this new release. Side-scrolling, rogue-like games have generally been welcome, if hit-or-miss, but does Vambrace: Cold Soul swing for the fences or strike out?

Looks really cool. This type of gameplay fits perfectly on handhelds so i still need to buy my Switch and will be getting this game for sure.

"Rogue-like" is one of those genre labels that will make me instantly disregard a game regardless of whatever else it offers. Perhaps even more of a turn off for me than "survival elements".

nah a rogue like can be done right and work well for the longevity of a game, problem is most rogue like use the same layers over and over with in a graphic world makes thing boring, but if was a game like wizardry

course the whole review could be done right, if you put a strong female lead and rogue like elements in a call, that means the game have nothing good to show so at best is a passable title

It's like Darkest Dungeon had sex with an anime in a seedy hotel. xD

I'm probably the exact opposite, regularly browsing for new and overlooked games in the genre. Some of them I'd put in my "top" list and make up a significant amount of my steam hours. The Binding of Isaac, Enter the Gungeon, and Rogue Legacy cemented my first impressions.

That being said, the market is saturated and the label is over used.

Good thing Epic didn't grab this one too, as Epic Store don't support Linux.

Its a solid game , very obviously trying to follow in the success of Darkest Dungeon much like Deep Sky Derelicts , ( another great game like DD set in space)

But ,Vambrace is a solid offering and fun , just a bit shallow when compared to its predecessors in DD and Deep Sky , more combat options would be welcome , the plus side for some , and what sets it apart is there is main character(Elevia Lyric) and much more story driven ( which is well done) ..

The price on sale right now at 22$ is fair , a couple solid updates and this could go from a solid game to a really good one ..
The oppurtunity to expand the story line and introduce more characters is a also a possibility
