is it worth playing?? is there a good community?? arent you sick of playing it after a week??
thx in advance for answering
I haven't played it yet, but my GF has canceled SWG and I've bought her GW and Factions to replace it. After discounting the retarded and trolls most reviews are very positive towards everything except the community.
I say if you have spare cash buy it as there's no subscription fee and Arena net is doing a very good job of it. I play EVE but I'll be creating a character in GW when I get the chance.

I shelved WoW to play Oblivion, and once I played oblivion for a few weeks remembered why I played games, I am 39 and after a good year or so rediscovered my joy for gaming, but the wife is a Huge Guild wars fan, we played the first episode to bits many times and finally we gave it a rest in october after 6-7 months of play, and with the preview and this weekends event I had to shelve my Oblivion and join my Wife in the game, All I can say is if you and the Wife/GF are going to play together its an awesome game, if you have a few mates who are playing too, then its the best there is.
The comunity is juvenile and so is WoW's, but after all games are the Domain of the younger generation, and its us that need to clench teeth and count to ten and just enjoy the game for what it is, the game and story are very good, some of the damn missions are extremly over the top difficult to the point of removing some of the enjoyment, but thats because getting said juviniles to play as a team and not as a group of indervidual super hero's is very hard.
But it has been a very enjoyable weekends game play and I am sure like the last installment it will last a good few months, I have been grouping with a mate who is also a Necro Blood Pools/Minion master and zerging some of the missions, very good fun, although the kids hate the Idea of the minions taking most the glory
i haven't played it yet either, but 2 me it looks amazing, the graphics are better than morrowind's(rpg of the year) and about the same as Oblivion's(if it isn't the next rpg of the year im gonna shoot whoever judged lol)
so graphics get a big 9.9 (lol)
for community, it is the only thing that ppl don't like bout it.Most ppl rate it about 7ish
Value would be a 10, I give a 10 to everything that has no monthly fee (and looks like a reasonably good game)
And, I know I wouldn't get sick of it in a week, but it depends on ur liking to it. PvP is really starting to look awesome, and PvE is starteing to take a slide.
Anyways, all in all, it look like a very enjoyable game. My overall mark for it would have to be an 8.9, u know, sumwhere around there. I'm getting it soon as well, so, I hope to c u playing it
GW as great value. You can really enjoy it for a while. As for the community its a bit like eny other multiplayer game that have big chat room. There is a lot of great people and a few bad apple but you always hear about the bad apple.

Is it worth playing? that of course, like with everything in real life depends on what you are looking for!
It certainly is NOT another munchkin MMO title like EQ/WoW so don t expect raids for übergear or something like that.
However if you re looking for something new and unique on the online RPG market, a game where planning strategy and teamwork actually matter, that offers a PvE storyline as well as various different modes for PvP play on a level balanced playing field, together with truly stunning visuals, go for it!~ you won t be disappointed.
It certainly as a special place on my HD with a very few other selected games, and it definitely will stay there
Oblivion certainly has the best engine on the market currently, the amount of detail and realism is unmatched. However in my personal opinion, they could have put that engine to better use. Everything you see in Oblivion, lush landscapes, fantasy villages, the odd hell equivalent, and 08/15 dungeons, is nothing different than what we ve already seen in countless other games, ... just with incredibly more detail and effects of course.
Guildwars on the other hand uses the engine they have to constantly amaze me with the sheer scope size and architecture. Oblivion made me go "wow" because it showed what i already knew in such great detail. but Guildwars makes me go "wow" because it shows me truly unique stunning settings and themse that i haven t seen in any other game before at all!~
if i were to have to choose to say wich is "better" honestly i couldn t. both games have their strenghts and weaknesses of course depending in wich area you re in. But generally, of course Oblivion got a much better engine, however i think Guildwars uses it s engine much better than Oblivion uses theirs. Generally i d have to say Oblivion of course looks better "most" of the time in "normal" areas, but then when you get to areas in Guildwars like places in Sorrows Furnance or see the huge Cantha city from the outside finally or or or (countless such places) it s a much more stunning sight than anything Oblivion has to offer.
Graphics have jaggys even with full aa on.If you cant see them then thats you , but the bright colours and shit doesnt make it better. Oblivion isnt my fav game tbh but the 360 version blows this cack away.
Community is pre pubescent . Beat a team and they start shouting wankers, losers, nubs and more . What fun.
Combat is removed and uninvolved. Hitting a key to pull of a style etc and you dont really feel youve done anything much. SPell effects are retarded and rather minimilist.
Lag is bad.Rubberbanding everywhere at busy times. Great for a pvp game.
This games as shallow as its price plan, non existant. Will amuse the easy amused and skint non working lazy fat stay at home kids during summer (most NCsoft fans i guess)
Churned out using NCsofts MMO push-button-to-design-a-game orifice..er...office. Didnt they every hear of quality not quantity?
And yet, Darktongue, you've been playing it for 22 hours this week?!?
I've never had any lag, never had a losing team start shouting profanities at me, and never noticed the jaggies (although that last one could be down to bad eyesight).
Anyway, it's the sort of game you can play for a while, get bored of, then come back to. Why? Because there's no subscription fee, w00t!
Seriously, I'd give it a try. It's sufficiently different from other MMORPGs to be worth it.
Originally posted by anuwat1303 For me GW was worth buying because its so different from other online games (of course it's CORPG). If you like PVP, buy it.
teamwork is one of the things i think that makes a mmorpg what it is, if i play a mmorpg and almost everybody only solo's... i usualluy delete it very fast.... i havent been able to try GW yet, because of school... but im gonna do in a couple of hours
Hard to say. Prophecies seems longer, but it takes longer to do anything. Factions doesn't seem as long, but the overall game is much more challenging, so it's more rewarding that way. I like the stories fot both games about the same so far, but I'm starting to lean towards Factions a bit.

ill be buying GW tomorrow when i come out of school
c u all in there
And about the graphics, no, it's absolutly not in the same level as Oblivion. The graphics in Oblivion tops GW easily.
This is the best signature ever. Well, it is really up to you to decide. :x

im a fan
the same reason that makes me a fan , is the reason that classic mmorpgs players dont like guildwars
the fact that missions are instaced , everything outside towns are instanced
and the game is team based , that makes you " alone " with the people with go from town
this can be as good as bad .. overall , its good
and becose there is a learning curve , team relations tend to get better as you evolve in the game
becose there is a team work requirement for the quests and missions ..
there is always the luck factor , but overall , you can feel better groups
best way to learn what guildwars is and what can gives , is to join pugs
go with random people all the time
make friends , try guilds ..
try guilds the same way you try groups
the comunity is huge , use it
search
( dont play with henchs and come to forums saying the game sucs becose its instanced)

imo , you dont need to like pvp
what is really a requirement is , team work
if you like to solo , dont buy guildwars
