""No clue when beta will be, if ever. The developers don't communicate, even on the official boards. Sorry, but the very few 'fluff' posts they've produced can't be called communication.
The official boards are mainly populated with extremely defensive fans of the game, and moderators who point you to a FAQ if you ask any real question. Never mind that the FAQ is antique at this point. I think it was put up when dinosaurs still walked the earth.
Sorry to sound so bitchy here, but really...I've followed this game for a long time, with hope and anticipation. My guild applied for and was accepted into the pool of guilds that were to be offered a chance to beta the game. But we have heard nothing at all since then (over six months ago now). As in not a single, solitary word.
I'm disgruntled with the combination of an overly-long development time and zero communication from devs or producers. Want to take forever to develop a game? OK, fine, but if you are going to do that, and if you are going to continue to hype the game (which they do), then COMMUNICATE. Even if it's simply to acknowledge that yes, it's taking a long time, and yes, we the producers know you are out there and will provide bits of reality-based information now and then.
If this is even a tiny indication of how they will manage the game if it actually, by some miracle, goes live, then I don't have a lot of optimism about it. A shame. I had looked forward to this one. ""

The devs communicate when they feel they need to. They have not been advertising the game and a release date in magazines or other media, just passing information on their site as they see fit. A release date should always be taken with a grain of salt. Diablo 2 was WAY off it's release date and didn't have to deal with half the intricacies (sp?) an MMO does.
Razorwax is doing things their way, not the industry norm way. Your best bet is to quit complaining, play whatever game you currently play, and just check back once a month for updates to see if anything has 'officially' been announced. That or just forget about DF, then there is nothing to bitch about. Problem solved.
The DF community is a big cycle, I know because I followed since 2003 and became a part of it. Actually was fooled for longer that I would like to admit.
First a wave of people join intrigued with all the features and beta (soon) tm promises, then they get fed up, wise up and leave.
Then a new wave of fanatic noobs come to replace it.
In 2007 when nothing happens these noobs will leave and others will step up to defend it.
Everyone bow down to him!
We're all just noobs.

Superior? Hardly, considering I was once one of the defensive fanboi noobs myself for quite some time.
the only thing they did wrong is they announced the beta too early (couple years early)
besides that stfu-its well known the game is not ready, and will not be ready for some time-you were not asked to waste your life away awaiting news on the df forums, nor were you asked to pay money for beta or other crap.
now stop with the pantie twisting.
I dont really think its my panties that I am twisting. And no.
Were all fanboi's at one point or another - I too followed DF for last year or so, I wanted to see this game come out.. but it seems to be on the fritz :P well, we will just have to wait and see what happens.. Im hoping they get the PVP right :P

I've been following darkfall for 5 years now and I'll keep on following it for another 5 because it's the only real pvp game on the horizon but I don't seriously expect it to release in my life-time anymore, sorry.
No, I am not saying TSR is correct or incorrect in anything thats been said, but dont tell him to jump ship just because you dont agree with his opinion. The internet is still somewhat of an open medium of communication, please dont try to stifle it.
Thats what sets non-official forums apart from official ones. You get banned or muted for speaking your mind, usually against the flow, on official boards. Keep that in mind next time you go to flame a flamer...
Stratos, you hypocrit. We have every right to tell idiots to shut the hell up, just as they have every right to continue being idiots.
The good thing about the internet is that we can call bullshit when we see it, and not sit around letting fools post their views uncontested.

There seem to be a lot of people who see what Darkfall is about and go nuts over it. But they are mostly not people who can grasp just how in depth game development is. Many people who came to DF also do not realize that the game got remolded with Aventurine coming onboard. Just like Horizons getting picked up and remade, DF has been rebuilt to compete with brand-name games. Its great that they stuck to the core ideas of open pvp, looting and generally a badass game. But you do need to realize that the info was bottled up so that when it came time to show the game it would have some bang to it.
We were told this on the forums by Tasos. Just because a lot of people chose to ignore it, and pine over a game day and night until they drove themselves into a maelstrom of stupidity, does not mean that the development team owes them an apology. That’s like saying, "my girlfriend broke up with me because I played Darkfall 80 hours a week for a month, they owe me an apology".
