I was going to write about Elder Scrolls Online’s E3 announcements after BE3, but then the unexpected happened - Fallout 76 had the most interesting announcements from the online Bethesda games. Namely? Fallout 76 is adding actual NPCs, branching dialog, more quests, and a whole lot more in the next big update, Wastlanders. But, get this, they’re also adding a Battle Royale mode that will give you rewards to use in the main survival game too. I don’t even know what to think...

Aloha Mr Hand !
In the end, the only opinion that matters is mine...
It shouldn't go ftp. They have and will continue to give tons of content updates at no extra charge. It's more generous than most other games.
I'd prefer they get rid of the hunger and thirst though.. pointless and constantly, mildly annoying. I think the game would be much, much better if they just admitted those 'features' are shit and ripped them out completely.
I make spreadsheets at work - I don't want to make them for the games I play.

Yours for free with a preorder of Fallout Pirates. Yarr.
And good on Bethesda for finally admitting that cheaping out by not including those human NPCs in the original FO76 release was a colossal fuck-up.
But BR? Too late to the party, Todd.

So any "lasting impact" will be lasting only in what you see in your world. I highly doubt they add any more lasting an impact than ESO's phasing. It's quite clear they didn't do a good job thinking through what the multiplayer would mean for the Fallout, either via lack of adequate consideration or incompetence.
