I usually don't buy consoles I'm a PC gamer at heart but it seams alot of developers are putting there games on switch, it's getting a pretty good library of games. I might need to purchase one now

I really love the Zelda games but I really wish they would clean up the graphics a little bit, there are so many titles out there using the full limits of the SWITCH I just wish they would do the same..

I knuckled under a few months ago for my daughter. She played it like crazy at first but the novelty's worn off. Now it's mine! *rubs hands greedily*

80+ games and counting while my XOne has been moved to the attic and my PS4 is collecting dust...

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

We wouldn't have bought one but we were looking for a game we could play together, my playstation 3 (which I bought used to play a few games that weren't on PC) stopped working and she loves Zelda.

In truth, I'm still not a console gamer as I fight with the controller all the time. The only thing I can do naturally on Zelda is save my game.

Never played Zelda game before, but this looks to have a great anime technique so we will see if they can maybe port to p.c. this time.

stop posting and go play Zelda a Link to the past or Ocarina of time or any other (those 2 are my fav tho)

BOTW was good , however traveling at first was a pain in the rear , the 1 mission when u open the world? gez , just traveling to the next town took me 2h lol

I was thinking when the first came out "They can't go back after this. This changes Zelda, it's too damn good". I think I would like to see more involved/longer/more epic dungeons in the sequel but other than that it's effing perfect.

Since I still don't have a Switch I tried BotW on an emulator in butter smooth 60FPS, and deleted it after a couple of hours. It didn't hold my interest like older Zelda games did. BotW was not a bad game, but to me personally is the weakest Zelda game ever made. When i buy my Switch i might give it a fair chance, but i'm not too excited about the sequel either. Beautiful game, but didn't do much for me.

A couple hours? did you even get your glider? A couple of hours is not even through the tutorial area. The game is massive and requires hundreds of hours to do everything. Not sure you actually experienced the game.
I should have specified that. A couple of hours after the tutorial and opening the world map. I found myself doing the same things over and over without a sense of direction. Clear this spot from mobs, do this shrine, clear this puzzle, rinse and repeat. The activities i did felt smooth, but also IMO felt short and repetitive, kinda like a single player Destiny.

I agree with your point that a game that is hundreds of hours long cannot be fully experienced in a couple of hours, especially a single player game. That's why (also as a Zelda fan) i am open to give it a fair chance once I buy my Switch.

I must be one of the few people who think BoTW is largely over-rated. Those crappy, short puzzles are not dungeons and that is a huge part of the game for me. Even the infamous water dungeon is better than anything here.

My favorite is this streamer that learned about the basic tutorial skills after 95 hours of play....

I will swear till the day I day that this video is fake every time. Just playing the game for so long she should have accidentally side hopped and flurry rush pops up if you dodge at the right moment regardless every time.
    Not at all.

I've been playing the game with my girlfriend and we missed a WHOLE lot of stuff as we just didn't come across it in a timely fashion.

We discovered fighting tutorials way after.
We discovered the first fairy who upgrades your clothes quite a bit after. Guess what? There are more of the. Damned if I know where but at some point we'll find them.
We are so behind on upgrading our inventory as we "just" got to the northern forest where the maraca guy basically said "so long and find me there if you want more inventory ..."

And completely missed the whole memory thing which I now want to find them all so we can get the additional ending.

Open world games can have a way of allowing players to miss many things.

one of the reasons I was screwed in Black Desert as I just did my thing and never really followed through on the quest line that allowed one to get a compass in the desert.

Even if I go up to the NPC he won't give me the quest.

Well, my girlfriend loves it and thinks the game is brilliant. But she's not a gamer (and thank god for that) so she's not jaded and doesn't have high expectations.  She's never played a game with visuals at this level so it's kind of a breath of fresh air.

Our head of IT at work loves the game and thinks it's a masterpiece.
Another guy at work doesn't like the game because you can't break down weapons nor is there a real economy etc, etc.

Me? I think it's very pretty and I enjoy playing it with my girlfriend because I don't expect it to be anything other than what it is.

So "no" the shrines aren't dungeons nor are they trying to be.

When players go in expecting things "just because" they are just going to be disappointed. You have to take it for what it is trying to be. And it's not trying to be Witcher 3 or Skyrim.
