In the latest Destiny 2 update posted to the Bungie site, devs provide a lot more information about the free-to-play conversion of the game taking place this September. When Destiny 2: New Light launches, players will receive all of the Year 1 content including the base game, Year 1 raids and both the Curse of Osiris and Warmind expansions. Year 2 content free roam activities, Strikes playlists, Crucible playlists, Gambit & Gambit Prime playlists and other "select annual pass content".

seriously? now that is utter bullshit. basically means once they transfered to steam, all our previously bought expensions from bnet will be goner?
"I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up! Not me!"
What you are referring to simply means that, if you want to play on PC, you have to buy the content on PC. If you want to play on PS4, you have to buy the content on PS4 but you can't, say, move your PS4 content to PC.
There's a link to the full Bungie post where you can read the details more closely to make sure you understand.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thank you for your time!
It´s called the Reeves effect
Honestly, this is a majority of games in general. Within a year almost every new single player game is heavily discounted, so all you get is the advantage of 'time' which to some is more important. Unfortunately for me, I always wait, not because of the pricing, but because of all the patching and other garbage that tends to happen to make half of these new games over the past decade playable since they rarely work well at launch. Not to mention most of these titles always having a Game of the Year edition within a year of release.
You're welcome. We financed the entire first year of content so they could give it away.
Going free to play shouldn't be seen as a positive here. This was supposed to be a minimum 10 year franchise that even Activision didnt want anymore.
This transition reeks of desperation and I think they'll be surprised when thousands of people on steam don't want to pay 60 bucks for a 12 minute "expsnsion" supplemented by the Eververse Cash Grab.
Id have rather let my career stagnate and be known as the "halo studio" forever than let whatever destiny is supposed to be, happen.
This seems to explain it pretty well:
