As being a fan of the FF series I cannot bring myself to play FFIX for fear of disappointment and the FF series being tainted by a crappy product (Mystic quest flashbacks *shivers*)

Many people have quit this game before they get to the actual good parts. It's quite similar to EQ where things don't get good till later on.
This game doesn't really get into it's element till after lvl 30 where you have unlocked several advanced jobs and partied a ton. If you MUST have soloing, this game is rightly not for you.
It's unfortunate FFXI is hard to get into(unorthodox controls, de-lvling) because after some of the tedious stuff(unlock subjob, adv job, etc) this game is actually pretty good. I was gonna quit too around lvl 9-11(omg killing easy cons so boring) but then I found valkurm dunes and got into grouping. From there the lvls pretty much zoomed by for me.(44 drk, 30 war, 28 brd, buncha lvl 10s)
The thing I think that has caused most english players to leave is having no english(or just brand spanking new) only servers at launch. This really hurt the game imo, although I have no problem with it. I was lucky enough to end up on Ramuh, one of maybe 3-4 out of 27 that have a large population of english players.

you hit it on the head. Why waste my time with a game you cant get into in higher levels. Plus forced grouping sucks..that's why I never got into DAoC. Many developers of mmorpgs seem to leave out the element that many heros were lone warriors, not fellowships. Goes to show the game is far to imbalanced if it takes a whole group to be able to play it. From just the reviews given of the game (both good and bad) I think I will steer clear of this one and wait for another console FF to play (and FF X-2 sucked big time...just like its predecessor)

Had to edit because it was bad for mmorpg.com's image

You should have held onto that game longer kiamde. Right now i'm having a blast. We got like 10 people in my linkshell going on boats to new places, levelling together. It's so much fun. We almost got invaded by pirates but i hid .
I really think it's just a matter of opinion. There are groups of people on both sides, some people (like myself) love FFXI. It's been the game I've been waiting for for a long time. Others just don't like it at all, that's bound to happen with every game.
Comments
