    Yes.

It's the same way that it will run when Classic is released. You will have to subscribe to "WoW" which gives access to both retail and Classic.

Which is funny since most people that wanted Classic in the first place most likely don't have a subscription to the version of WoW they left in favor of Classic.
Agreed, but that's the plan whether we think it's wise or not. *sighs*

I think you can buy a stand alone subscription in the blizzard shop without any other requirements

No, they have categorically stated that you buy a subscription. What you play is up to you. The price paid is the same: $15/month. You can play retail. You can play Classic. You can play both.

This is so smart by blizzard and a very good tactic to make money off Classic and its not even out yet.

First they say if you have a active sub you have a ' chance " to get a beta invite. ( i wonder how many thousands signed up just to try and get lucky )

now that month is up, we are saying if you sub now you can stress test classic. so people who already payed that month are going to pay again because now they can get in for sure! hahaha thousands more dollars off a game that came out 2004 but needs " beta testing ".

Dumbasses are getting milked quite hard, I'm not even sorry for them. The hype is at the max limit right now thanks to the streamers who are supported by Blizzard to keep pushing the peak.

Oh man lol well I guess at least it’s ‘free’ included with the sub to retail WoW and not $15/game/month, or 5$ extra for Classic. Very generous of Blizzard :)

That's just, like, my opinion, man.

I really hate when people call other people dumb for how they spend their own money.  I, personally, would never beta test a game if they plan on having a server wipe, which is almost every beta.  I, personally, certainly would never pay money to do something I would never do for free anyways, like beta test.

But the people who wanted to beta paying for a sub, or the people wanting to check out the stress test so get a sub, are not dumb for making a money decision you disagree with.  Life, in general, mostly sucks.  We spend our time and disposable income to make it suck less on the things we enjoy.

Blizzard has made one game in their whole corporate lifetime I have enjoyed - WoW up through WotLK.  I like almost nothing they do.  I can't stand either Blizzard or Ghost Crawler for destroying wow for me, but as soon as Classic goes live I will be giving them my business again, paying for something I actually enjoy.

As an EU player I really enjoyed the spit in the face...
I guess EU "playerbase" is doing fine and Blizzard doesn't think they have to resort to this type of tactics maybe? I mean it feels like a strange decision to allow some regions and not others.
Btw even if I had access I doubt that I would've actually bothered to even install it. I'm hyped for classic, but not to the point where I would bother with leveling up to 15 and that's it... don't see much enjoyment in that.

Huh, how old is vanilla WoW by now? Asking full sub for such an outdated MMORPG?

It would make more sense imo to ask a lower subscription fee for vanilla WoW and just give it for free to ppl who pay subscription to normal WoW. But hey, at least vanilla WoW will never have less players then normal WoW the way they plan to do it now :/

I am very curious to see how many ppl will come back just for vanilla and will actually stay after the rose coloured glasses come off.

Yeah but besides an open beta there are no alternatives. And I'm not sure that would be a realistic way to stress test Classic.

It isn't outdated if people are still clamouring to play it. The desire of many for Blizzard to offer Classic has been going on for quite some time now.

And, that's the thing. The more desire customers show for something, the more they demonstrate a willingness to pay a premium price for that thing.

Hence, Blizzard is confident that those who want to play on an official Vanilla server will be willing to pay a full subscription price even if they have no desire to play the modern version.

    And they're right. People will.

Well, you know, it isn't the same version of the game that came out in 2004. It is new software that obviously needs to be tested. If that testing can also be used for revenue generation, that's just a happy circumstance.

I highly doubt it. Already saw streamers who loved WoW through all its iterations getting tired of vanilla WoW because they basically forgot how things were without all the QoL improvements.

The low quest drop rates, quest items being items in your inventory, having to buy your skills, getting back to your corpse. There is way more going back and forth in vanilla, making everything take ages.

I do see the attraction though. But that is for the most part (and for most people I suspect the same) with the old classes and the old talent system that gave more variety in how you could play a class. But this all means nothing the moment players get tired of all the meaningless chores without the QoL changes.

I can't wait for classic to be popular for like 5 months then completely die out. Calling it now.

Thank you for the update, my subscription expires on the 21st (got it just to increase my classic beta chance) so at least I get to try it for a couple days.

you could give me the 30$ and i will link you to about a dozen classic wow servers that are the exact same thing and you can try them for a few days for " free "
