imageChuwi MiniBook is a Full Package Laptop Taking Up Only 8

A new Indiegogo project has cropped up from Chuwi, this time the MiniBook, a full-fledged laptop taking up only 8" of space. The company determined the 8" mark after research indicated that it was the perfect size for tablet users. They say that good things come in small packages and the Chuwi MiniBook is proof of that.

I had a 10.1" Asus convertible Windows laptop that could also be a tablet. 10-inches is just too small for a Windows laptop. Android, yes. Windows, no. So I ended up going for a 13-inch convertible Windows laptop for Windows.

I can't imagine trying to use Windows on an 8" screen.

If that device had 3G/4G connectivity I imagine it could sell really well to some professionals who need to write a lot of e-mails on the go - kind of like modern version of Nokia Communicator. But with only WiFi connectivity I don't see why anyone would want to buy it.

It's not a full-fledged laptop if it doesn't have a full-fledged keyboard. It might be a nifty product, but the non-standard key size and alignment would be an awful pain to type on.

Why o why o why is this even on here? What has a cheap horrible netbook have to do with mmo's.

Most people here have owned enough PC's to know this is a pile of useless chinese tosh, we have had the 7", 8" and 9" netbook craze and thank the gods that died a death, I wasted money on one and it was a bloody awful experience, that was thrown in the bin and the Chuwi minibook does not fill me full of excitement to repeat the process.

    Playing: FFXIV
Future: wishing for SWG 2, World of Warcraft Classic
Played: Most current and extinct MMO's - 18 Years in....

    Interesting Fact - I own 27 Tarantula's

The early Netbooks were of an architecture intended for cell phones. Ever since Silvermont, Intel moved their Atom line to an out of order architecture more appropriate for low power laptops. This laptop also offers an Amber Lake-Y part, which is basically a low power optimized version of Intel's Sky Lake Refresh Refresh architecture--that is, their high power, high performance one like you might get for a modern gaming desktop.

2007 called, they’d like their netbook back, please.

That's just, like, my opinion, man.

Thanks for the heads up, Suzie. I love this kind of device, though I don't really need an upgrade for my GPD Pocket. Threw a dollar at them just to follow. Hopefully AMD will at some point release a low power APU with LPDDR support.
