PUBG Corp has announced the formation of a new studio called Striking Distance headed by former Call of Duty and Dead Space developer Glen Schofield. Striking Distance is working on an unnamed PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds game. Schofield, while providing few details, did state that he has "the freedom to explore the PUBG universe" and that he's excited about possibilities that that brings which he "views as beyond the battle royale genre".

Aloha Mr Hand !
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Furthermore,we can call it the DAYZ universe or the COD universe, just a bunch of empty buildings, sneak around shooting each other,a VERY simple and to me boring concept because this has already been done a thousand times already.
You don't hire expensive staff like former COD execs to make something different, nope it will be "i have gun,i can shoot gun".
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Player Unknown is the equivalent to Dean Rocket. They both made a mod for an existing game, it ran like crap but still got popular so they made it a standalone game that still runs like crap.
Glen isn't a modder, he has a lot more experience in game development than Player Unknown. If he can gather the right team, i think i would be interested in a narrative game in PubG universe. I just don't care about the poorly made BR.
My opinion, of course.
It is like Rust but team oriented, so you will be building, gathering, surving etc in a team based environment.
