Defiance 2050 is celebrating its first anniversary and gamigo has a new month-long event for players to check out. The 99 Problems event will launch for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One simultaneously in all regions. Players will be able to take part in the event to earn daily rewards and take home a high-powered prototype weapon at its end.

I quite like Defiance. There's stuff wrong with it but so far it's the one and only looter shooter type game that has a proper open seamless world where you actually see other players running around outside of the hubs (unlike Division's phasing and unlike Destiny's instanced planets). It gets credit for that.
They messed it up fully when they released a new version and split the player base...
It was absolutely stupid of them to not just update their original game though or allow some kind of character port to the new version.
Apparently, it's only the PC versions that are low population though, the console version of 2050 is doing fine. I don't know from personal experience though.
Off topic, mmo is a special type of game, it obviously requires player numbers for some/most of its contents, which is why if a mmo = have no players = death of a game by design, perhaps that is why publisher failed to understand by limiting the fun or QoL elements like char slots or the madness of selling you bag space in a loot/crafting game O_O??? That is like selling you a car without wheels! I smell greediness like no where else which also why a lot of mmo went shut down.
To simply put lots of bag space and char slots = fully invested in time = higher chance of spending money. But you know the gaming/gambling industry WANT that fast money ever faster turn over which is not ideal for long term time investment like a mmo game by design. A perfect example comes to mind is WoW, although its not free but they understood the players time investment = future sub = money and lots of it.
Back in the days of mmo golden era, their are too many companies want a quick cash grab and ruin the mmo landscape sort to speak. To this day it really haven't recover, also we have more of clone games than news more greediness at work I see, cheap products for high price = quick buck scheme = eventually destroy the market. You ask how is that so? Then how many new mmos in 2015-2018 compare to pre-2014?
Lastly, if Defiance 2050 did this like 3 years earlier then it might still have a future, but, almost everyone would think after the takeover Defiance would be shutdown, I guess they are milking it at this point.
