Hello all. I'm currently doing my Rank 2-3 mission with Bastok as my starting point. I've already gone to San' Diora and defeted Warchief Vagiti. I then made the long trek to Windurst and talked to the Bastok Conselit. I have also bought the map of Giddeos and aquired the key to fight the dragon, but alas, I can't fight the Shadow Dragon alone. No matter what it takes a group(of at least 3) to take this mother down. I would imagine there or others on the same mission as I am we just need to party up, and get it over with. All my info is in my signature, but I woun't be online again untill this Fri. night 5/12/06 at around 8:00pm EST. Let me know if you'll be in the area, and are willing to give a hand or need a hand in the same mission. And, feel free to contact me in game for missions, leveling, or just chating.

Yes, the level 25 cap on the dragon does mean he's tough to solo--although I have heard tales of uber players doing so (don't ask me how, I have no idea how to accomplish such a feat). Unfortunately, I'm on Remora, or I'd definitely offer to help. Incidentally, in order to enter the circle, you must either have this mission and be ready for the dragon fight, or be Rank 3+. Just so you know while you're looking for allies. This might be a good chance to make some connections: there are higher-ranked players who don't forget that they needed help to beat the dragon when they were shooting for Rank 3.

BLM can sleep the Dragon. Use it to your advantage. Take down the Eye first. Use your 2h abilities, thats what they are made for. If you don't have a BLM to sleep the dragon have one tank kite it, he is very slow and clumsy and can be kited really easy. If you find a NIN, they can keep the Dragon busy while the rest is killing the Eye. Most important, Don't Panic! This can be seen as a test for the more difficult fights you will encounter in the future. Try different strategies, analyze why you failed and learn from the mistakes. It's a tough fight at 25 but not impossible.

RDM is actually better for sleeping the dragon, he'll have a higher enfeebling skill, caps at 78 as opposed to the BLM's 72. It's really not that tough, I helped an LS mate do it yesterday. We did it with four people, MNK, BLM, RDM and, uh, PLD, I think. I was the RDM, and had no trouble at all sending the dragon to beddy-bye land. We beat him in a little over three minutes.
