I should go back and have a look, though I've probably been gone for too long for me to go back to my character, and I'm too lazy to restart. I had a lifetime sub too, before it went F2P... it's probably still active, if I can rmemeber my password and login details. As a soloer I had a good time when I was in there. Kinda crazy too, the graphics actually overheated and killed my gaming laptop back in the day when I went into Mordor. I wonder how many FPS I was getting back then, and how many I would get now.

LotRO is my favorite and longest played MMORPG, favorite spot is Weatherstock and the yearly community concert at Weatherstock.

Also I have zero interest in playing an Amazon MMORPG based on Middle Earth, I can only imagine the watered down crapfest it will be. Any bets it will have a BR mode ?

Great game aside from the cash shop icon on literally every element of the UI. Every panel, tab, bag, item, character sheet, guild tab.... you name it and its got a cash shop icon on it. It's annoying to have basic things like inventory space locked behind cash shop (even while subbed, none of this changes) but its more annoying to have the shop be so intrusive.
You can buy inventory space with in game money.

It is intrusive to have that little icon everywhere.

I only played on the progression server and definitely couldn't buy inventory space with in game money. Good to know the regular servers can though. I had a great time playing the game so I didn't have an issue spending $50 for a few months of convenience. Mostly lost interest because the early expansions have zero endgame content to do.
You can definitely buy inventory space with in game gold on any server. It's the way it has always worked. You can expand that beyond the cap with real money purchases. All storage types can be increased with real money beyond what is free or purchased with gold.
    • As of Update 18, a total of 135 Inventory Bag Slots are available to all account types.
These are only available for purchase in the on-line store, in units of 5 known as: "Inventory: +5 Slots" at a cost of 325 LOTRO Point  for each unit.

Are you calling LOTRO points "gold" by chance?  Lets also not forget the "Premium Wallet" you need to buy too.
No I was referring to the chests and saying one could buy them (which you can) with in game gold. However, one can then go above and beyond and add to storage with turbine points.

Having said that, if a person would pay the sub fee (we used to sub to these games) then they can get an allotment of Turbine points each month. These can be used to pay for the extra bag space.

Something seems to actually lag a bit when playing. Lag isn't an issue I have on other games either. I wish they could make the combat smoother is all. WoW and FFXIV always feel spot on, I wish this was the same.

YES. When I played originally (sometime after launch but before Moria), this lag/hesitation didn't exist. But it was so pronounced when I tried to play a couple of years ago that I didn't feel comfortable going into dungeons. (I was playing a healer and felt like I'd need to know how the fights were going to go a few seconds BEFORE things went bad in order to start the heals needed) Since dungeons are my usual favorite part of the game, I only lasted a couple of months before moving on.

I subbed to the game but that didn't make having to buy inventory space any less lame.

could I add as well that the community iis arguably the best in any MMO. EQ comes closest IMHO. Landroval might be the single best community server in any MMO.

I believe the mixup is in you interpret inventory in two different ways...

Bags (character inventory) you can't increase through gold, it's a feature tied to the account. Free players have 45 slots (3 bags), subscribers get two extra bags making it 75 slots total. If you drop the subscription, the existing characters keep their 75 slots, but newly created characters will start with only 45 again, since you're not subscribed anymore.

This number can only be increased through the in-game store, or by other purchases - like the Samwise starter pack has a bag I think, so if you have that then your free characters will start with 60 slots.
All those purchases are for the account, hence the relatively high price, $10 per bag when not on sale (or $3.3 for 5 slots since for a while now you can buy them in fives and not in bags). *
If you buy 5 more slots, that is 5 extra slots for all your characters on all the 12 servers.
*or you can grind the LP for it from the game, for free

Vault (bank) that's what you can increase with in-game gold, up to 120 slots, and if that's not enough you can buy some more through the store, but those are per character.
You can have a storage in the house, which you can also increase by in-game gold and can be used as shared storage among your characters, if mailing items back and forth is too tiresome.
(There's a shared storage option at the bank as well, but that's a store-only convenience feature)

This is the sort of MMORPG where friendly fights can start over which sever has the best community, do you know where else that happens!? :)

I'm still trying to figure out what "Don't sleep on The Lord of the Rings Online" is supposed to mean. "To sleep on something" is an idiomatic expression, which means "To postpone a decision until the following day so that one has additional time to consider it." I still don't follow what the title is supposed to mean. I should not postpone my decision on The Lord of the Rings Online until tomorrow? What does that even mean?
