1. Nah, Until SOE has taken over I'm not worried. I was a little upset at first. But after reading that SOE is only putting boxes on the shelves basically, I could care less. I think it's healthy for the game myself. The more boxes on the shelves the more people I have to play with. I don't see how that's really a bad thing. I'm not as jaded a some I guess. I didn't like SWG to begin with, so I didn't feel burned by the SWG fiasco. Now I can understand you guys that did like and play the game getting upset. But it didn't personally affect me. The stuff they have developed has been trash. Just as long as SOE doesn't develop the game I am still fine. If SOE does anything more than what has been said they would do, I will just leave. It's not like I haven't spent 50 bucks on a game and stopped playing it a month or two later before.
2. If your hype towards the game changes, you should change your hype of the game. But I think people that were excited should at least try it before they scream DOOOMMMM!
3. Honestly, if a game is good I could care less who gets my money. Maybe this is an attempt by SOE to try and turn around. Who knows what the hell happened with this deal really. I'm not goigng to try and predict if this game will be good or bad. But what if it's the best game to come around in awhile. I ask you guys...Are you still going to boycott this game if all your firneds are playing it? You don't really have to answer, I now you'll say yes. But the people that don't care much about this know some of you would end up there if it ends up being good.
I don't know if I'll like the game or not. I am still interested in it. If I like it I'll play it, if I don't I won't and I could care less who gets my scratch.
Yep people are dumb, they dont realise that SoE isnt making the game, they have no rights on development, if you dont trust brad enough to give him a chance to prove that this wasnt a bad trade, and that he wont be giving the rights to SoE then you better not play the game, because you wont trust anything he does.
nah I'm not changing my hype for this game (not that it really matters) I'm not a hardcore soe hater so ill leave that sort of thing up to you haters out there.
Seriously how can people look at this is a positive manner at all? From root kits on CD's to releasing the NGE, you know what maybe someone should compile all the lies and deception. It would take a while but then maybe some morons out there might understand that some people don't want to deal with a company that shafts them. SOE, unfinished content, lies, NGE, root kits, crap customer service, total disregard for SWG vets, contempt for customers, man the list is endless.

Brad now has more control than ever. How can anyone view this as a negative? Total content control and co-publisher as well, where is the problem? And for the record, people are eager to bash SOE and paint MS as some perfect gaming company, but take a look at their MMO track record and you will find it is much worse than SOEs. After all, how many MMOs have SOE had to kill after release? As bad as the SWG fiasco was, it is still making a profit (however small), which is more than could be said for the late AC2.
I think those hype meters are jack to begin with. Vanguard has more posts, and votes than any of the games that are on the highest hype list. Acutally, I haven't heard of most of the games on the top 5 right now. I don't care if people vote 1 or 10 on the game, I see the fact that you voted as interest. I'll go out on a limb to say that if you actually voted 1 out of anger, you'll probably try the game out sooner or later anyway.
I realize I'm not a hard core follower of all the games coming out, acutally, I'm just on this site to read more about Vanguard. It's just the talk of most of my friends that it's the next big thing. EQ is nothing but raiding now. WoW just bored me out as soon as I hit 60. I don't know of anything other than Vanguard that I can hope to interest me.
A while ago i started to dislike EQ2 and was hoping to move completely over to Vanguard when that game comes out, but lately EQ2 has turned out to be an ok/good game. So, now im glad ill be able to pay 1 fee to play both EQ2 and Vanguard
Aswell as any other game but dont think ill have time to get my head into more than 3 or more MMOG's...
Keeping my hype at 10, just because Brad is huge huge time got great love in making sure this game becomes great. Ill change it to 1 when ive played the final version of the game - if i dont like it :P
Those who changed their Hype based on SOE being involved with the financial end of Vanguard are no longer rating the game on "the game itself" but on some negative feelings about SOE. On its face, this is an invalid way to rate a future game.
When the game releases I will then rate the game again and it will be based on "the game itself" and not any financial arrangement made by Sigil and SOE.

Us humans are strange creatures. Sometimes, when we really buy into something, and it turns into something bad, we go into denial. We pretend everything is great. We make endless excuses. We twist and torture logic. We ignore common sense and obvious truths.
It's a terrible condition to enter into, but pretty much all of us (yes, me included) have fallen pray to this mindset at one time or another.
A lot of people had very high hopes for Vanguard, and put a lot of faith and belief into it. Now, even though it's been hit with a SoE poison pill, they keep lining up like Jim Jones followers at a cool-aid stand.

Hype is not a rating of the game, it's about the expectations, about how good you *think* the game is going to be and how bad you want it to release. With SOE around... I don't think the game is going to be any good and I'm not looking forward for its release anymore.

What the hell does it matter if the hype for Vanguard is set to 1? Educated people will base their decision on the actual game producers site rather than merely trusting the views of the general population.
As much as I like mmorpg.com, I would never base my decision of whether a game was any good on the 'hype-score' of readers.
DO you think its right to change the hype of the game?
Will SOE get any money from you?
I havent rated this game yet, but would have rated it 7, but since hearing about the SOE involvement I would now rate my enthusiasm for this game at 1.
I think it is quite acceptable to change the hype rating of a game as it refelcts the opinion of the customer base, so they are now aware of how people have reacted to the SOE announcement.
The ability to change it is vital as Sigil will now be aware that the popularity of their product is dwindling.
I do think that Sigil has made a bad decision to even associate themselves with SOE, they have a bad reputation, it would be interesting to see what their other options were if there were any.
No doubt SOE will get money from me again as they make it considerably difficult to cancel subscriptions
I am no longer doing business with SOE, and avoid sony products in general wherever possible. I changed my hype from a 10 to a 1 the day they announced the SOE deal. I believe that is an absolutely accurate hype for me. It went from a game I would definitely buy, to a game I will definitely NOT buy.
I don't think i will ever subscribe to an SOE game again. I just cant trust them not to throw a monkey wrench in my fun.

If you would give your first born to play SOE's Vanguard then give it a 10.
If you have a problem with SOE buying out Vanguard then your hype rating should reflect your lack of hype.
Just be honest without flaming.
If one is the lowest hype available.....then yes

Ive already changed mine to 1.
I'm not taking the risk of falling in love with another game only for SOE to feck it up a year down the line AGAIN!
