Is this going to be another Shroud of the Avatar? Honestly I've been confusing the two games for a few years now so it wouldn't surprise me if it went over just as well. Every dev who tries to make a "UO like" game has failed.

34% off launch sale! Wow, that's pretty extreme pricing for a new launch. I wonder if they don't have much faith in their product? I was expecting maybe 10 - 15% off.

I would have thrown money at this the last two times they planned to launch on Steam before pulling the game literally at the last second but now ? Meh I won't buy out of principle.

Well, it's Steam launch and they are still working on the game. So sort of makes sense.

Not sure what people are complaining about. Been playing Legends of Ultima (Legends of Aria community server) for a long time now, and it's freakin awesome. The base game is decent too, but I prefer the UO experience more than the way LoA is taking their game. Both are still good, and fully functional.

Watched some YouTube of it yesterday , have to same game looks really dated like it could be from 2009ish. I relly wanted to like it was even hyped for it, but after seeing the graphics and combat animations think this one is going to be a pass for me.

Part of playing any game, especially for people who are "particular" is knowing what you are getting into.

This is an indy game. it's not going to have stellar graphics/animations. Still, the art design is rather good. But unless you can appreciate that, unless that has value for you, the game's aesthetics aren't going to work for you.

As far as the game, it's a much more "old school" game. I posted elsewhere that I found it refreshing as it hearkens back to my early days playing mmorpg's. Quite frankly I like it. I think I'm going to stick around for a bit.

But if you are looking for "graphicsanimations!!!!" then by all means do not play this game. If you are looking for "fast actionpackedcombat!!!!" you should definitely not play this game.

I should add, for me it was more like "I want to explore but I also want to be able to grown the character, what do I need to do ... hey I'll do this, hey, I'll help this person, ok, getting the hang of it, now what ..."

No hand holding, just you figure out what you need to do/want to do and you then do it.

I bought access like a year ago, but didn't realize there would be a sub fee at some point, this isn't necessarily a problem, but did they ever mention how much it would be / if there's a non sub account status that can still play?

I don't think you have to sub. However, it would also depends on what that sub would offers you. If you feel that without it you can't get what you want out of the game then that would be a decision.

If graphics and animations we're what made a game Old-school Runescape wouldn't be so popular.

While that might be true it's not my cup of tea. If I wanted to play a game with dated graphicsand horrid combat I would fire up star wars galaxies or a dozen others I own hell even Wow has better combat then what I was seeing. If this game becomes even remotely as popular as SWG or UO I will be extremely surprised.

Definitely a niche game, At least the character graphics are better then current UO graphics. lol The scenery is beautiful. It certainly is an old school type of game. I, too, enjoy building a character and seeing it grow.

Sub fee is optional, not required. The sub is a good example of the devs dropping new surprises that were not part of the original road map. I'm a fan of the game, but not a fan of them changing things that were not planned before.

I started playing yesterday for the first time and am enjoying it so far. I don't enjoy the pan-down camera work, but I might get used to that. There are a lot of builds I want to and will try.

Yeah I'm not crazy about the camera but I can get used to that. I wish it was more "click to move" as opposed to "hold down right button" as I feel that's tiring.

I switched to the MMO settings to move using WASD. I only like click to move when playing an RPG that is turn-based.

Game is in a current state of crappiness. They changed 90% of the map to PVE only. No new content with this steam release other than "bard" skills, which is terribly implemented. They should have learned from their free shard, Legends of Ultima. Pretty terrible.
