right now my computer is completely screwing up.  I went to some website, and it said install active control x to view the scripts on the page, so i installed it with out thinking.  Then instantly, about 20 popups appeared. even after i exited out of mozilla firefox.  They just kept coming(and still are).  I ran a few programs, like nortan antivirus, spybot search and destroy, and ewido, and it turned out that i had tons of viruses/trojans/infected files that i didnt have yesterday when i ran nortan antivirus.  It has just added 2 programs to my friggen desktop right now, one called "remove spyware" and the other called "mypctv".

i am freakin out right now, so plz can somebody help me out? is there something i can do to make them all just stop?

    Different things to try:

    Download and run Ad-aware.
    -----------------------------------------------
Look in your "Program Folders", and delete/uninstall any that are obviously spyware.
    -----------------------------------------------
Go to Start --> Run --> type msconfig
    Go to the tab 'startup'
    Click 'disable all'
    Restart
    -----------------------------------------------
If the problem still persists, go back to the 'msconfig' window
If you see items which are obviously spyware, look at the file extension and go delete them
    -----------------------------------------------
If the file says that it cannot be deleted,
restart your computer, and before the system loads, press F8
this should bring you to a window where you will be able to run in safe mode
go into safe mode and delete the files.
    -----------------------------------------------

If all else fails, back up your important files onto cds and reinstall a fresh version of windows.

well thanks but as you said, all else has failed.  I think im going to bring it in to some computer specialist guy, might cost 50 bucks, but to get rid of all this dam spyware and crap it would be worth it.  but just as a backup plan, im gonna back up my comp. onto cds

Did you run ewido in safe mode?

Professor Hubert Farnsworth - That question is less stupid but, you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.

I cant stand this, i am still getting pop ups even though i have tried everything possible.

why do people have to be such assholes, i mean really, there are people that design these f*cking trojans that do this, and even worse, there are companies that back them.  These types of people need to get the hell off of the earth, or stop being such asses.

Put all your stuff on a cd and format. That'll fix it, better than paying $50.

Wow, double post, and I only pressed submit once.

my computer has no cd burner, so i cant really put my crap on a cd.  right now the $50 bucks would be like nothing to get this fixed, im getting like 5 pop ups a minute, even when im not using the internet :(

Well the dealio is....Active X can either be good or bad and you probably already knew that.

I'd have to see this in order to do anything. I can most likely fix it, but I can't tell you how to do it, my sister gets this problem all the freakin' time and she ends up screwing up with my directions.

If you have MSN Messenger, there is a program that 'Request Remote Assistance' I can fix it through that, but you probably wont trust me.

Oh, another thing; it's most likely a Trojan if anything. Those bad boys are the ones responsible for putting spyware and crap on your computer.
It's nothing to worry about, I want you to go to My Computer/ C: or your main Hard Drive/ Scroll to the bottom below all the Folders and see if there is anything suspicious down there. They like to put themselves down there, .exe files and what not.

If you have toolbars on your IE, tell me so. I have a program that gets rid of them like a charm.

I doubt I helped you, I'll come back to check up.

Oh, gimmie the link to where you installed the active X. Send to my Email, it's under my profile information.
I got a junky computer I can test on and maybe eye ball how to fix the situation.
