Earlier this week, we found that the FAQ for the Russian version of Lost Ark seemed to indicate that the game would not be region-locked when it launched. However, the FAQ has since been updated with a somewhat ambiguous statement that "the localizer reserves the right to impose regional restrictions on the basis of an agreement with the developer". Mail.ru further said that it has the right to publish Lost Ark to Russian-speaking nations in the CiS region.

    What we really need to know is IF the region lock feature is for the account creation or the client itself and if a vpn/proxy will bypass this. "Mail.Ru deals only with Russian-language localization, as well as the spread of the game in Russia and the CIS. Please note that the localizer reserves the right to impose regional restrictions on the basis of an agreement with the developer."
    but anyway my comment is:

    -NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! PS: I hope a VPN will go through. If not we will just DDOS them and call it a day.

    What do you mean IF - of course VPN will go through. It is impossible for them to find every single VPN IP in existence that's proxying to Russia.

    They could block some VPN providers - but it is literally impossible to block all VPN.

    So with 100% certainty - just like all other VPNs - I can tell that there will be VPN services that will work just fine.





    And also I don't think they have any benefit in doing all that work. In fact it's more lucrative for them if people from west get founder packs and whatnot, so I doubt it will be a really "strict" region lock.

    They could block some VPN providers - but it is literally impossible to block all VPN.

    So with 100% certainty - just like all other VPNs - I can tell that there will be VPN services that will work just fine.





    They can block connections through a VPN. They block the tunnel protocols.Wtf u talking about...Blocking VPN providers is fuking noob

    I wonder if the "Russian" region locks will include states of European Union (Baltics) and the states with which Russian Federation is de-fact in a state of war (Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova)? Like it happens with BDO.

    It's not, you clearly haven't played it. It's the best attempt at a Diablo MMO so far. It's not quite there with the itemization but everything else is tight and impactful.
    I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

    They have plenty of benefit...stable servers. They know if they don't region lock it that people from every country that doesn't have it will flood it. Not to mention people trying to "mod" it to translate it and everyone not from russian flooding support with issues. Just not worth playing if it's region locked...always a risk your account could get banned.

    Nothing personal, only business. Mail.ru - Rus region / My.com (group mail.ru) - EU/US region. This is reason for them.
    I see many times how NCsoft (EU/US) also blocking us.

    I think at time when Russian beta will be blocked EU/NA publisher will be announced .

    I agree with that.
    Also I wouldn't feel comfortable playing in an environment where I don't understand the primary language.
    It limits the social aspects quite a lot.

    I don't see the problem in creating Russian servers for Russians.

    They would not bother to. But Mail.ru is known here as a disastrous publisher, so I suggest you wait for EU/US version.

    sadly they keep out a number of Chinese/Asian gold farmers and spammers. Well for the most part, some still get in, but for our N. American games we have they try to police this with region locks as well in order to keep out the riff raff bots from Asia. (doesn't always work well, but they try)
