Thanks for letting us know.. cus strangely enough Square Enix didn't. Wait.. 144 hours? that's pretty much the entire time! are you suggesting that people don't sleep for 6 days?! Not cool dude, that's not healthy
If you aren't paying you don't get to bog down their servers. Sounds fair to me.
Exactly this. Not sure why its hard to comprehend. Why do ppl insist on updating a client if they aren't even going to play? Makes no sense.
That's not a very astute way of looking at it. People who keep their client updated most likely want to play at some point in the near future, but can't right now. They are trying to download ahead of time so when they do want to play, they can just jump in. Likely they'll just play something else when the time comes.
The unfortunate thing about their free log in periods is that you have 144 hours during the event time, so if you log in say tomorrow, you'll only have about 5 days, not the full 6 days. Just thought people should know how these events really work so they dont think they can essentially wait until the last possible moment so they can get event time outside of the event end date.
I'll use it to look over the characters I played when I first started but didn't want to continue the sub. Thanks for the info. I have a second account for the play free until you reach a certain level. Wouldn't the trial account updates also get applied to your old sub account, since all I have to do is change login information to access either account?

This is cool but I just can't get past the Aesthetic of this game. TBH I dont care for FF past 7&8. I tried this MMO but I came up with the same issue I had with GW2, I just dont like how it looks. The graphics are great, and I know the story is supposed to be great, I just can't get past the actual aesthetic choices made.

I am one of the people with a slow connection. Took 3 days of my sub just to download the game. I could have updated it and then activated my sub and not loose play time.
Many companies can afford to allow people downloading and keeping clients up to date but this one big company can't? I think it is more a matter of they can't be bothered to change how the launcher works.

I am surprised you can even play the game on a 56k modem tbh. Yours is an unusual case, and i recommend you probably avoid games like BDO too, every wednesday there is a patch that is not small in size, by the time you downloaded it, it would be time to install the next one

Client is ~43GB. 43GBx1024=44,032MB. 44,032MB/72/60/60=0.16MB/s.
I don't think MMOs are what you should be playing...

What story? skip, skip, skip, skip, skip
wait.. are you are saying the story is so bad that people skip it? Have I been bamboozled??

People do enjoy mmos even with slow download speed. No one should be excluded because they have less money for fiber and/or live further away from the cities. I live on the countryside and currently have a 4G modem and it works perfectly to play with BUT downloading games around 50-70GB take its time. (Note that here in Sweden most new 4G modems/subscriptions have limitations, like 30GB a month before you have to buy more GB to continue using internet. Literally punishing gamers on the countryside.)
Being able to download a game before you activate your sub should be standard by now.

The concept is very simple... in order to play the game you need a sub. What would be the point of updating the game if you’re not going to play it?
a trick : trial account f2p
