Hardcore Gamer seeks New MMORPG (see inside)

Recently i've gotten bored with World of Warcraft, and i was pondering the idea of getting a new MMO. Now, keep in mind I have played SWG (untill they F****D it up), FF11, WoW, CoV/CoH, and eve. I was thinking maybe guild wars... but I'm not too sure, so this is where you come in. Please lend me a hand and give feedback on your faveoret MMORPG, and tell me why i want it. Thanks :)

i also played FFXI for years and havent been able to find anything good after that WoW sucked, guild wars is ok if you like an all instanced kind of game. just wasnt my kind of thing.  take a look at Lineage 2 man, i just ordered it form there website. seems to be a really hardcore game.  tell you the truth i really cant wait to start playing it.just a suggestion .  if thats not what you want GL finding a game, and dont forget  you can always just wait the next line of new games to come out also around Q4 of this year.

You can try Lineage2,there you have pvp combat anywere, anytime, with huge castle sieges.Evironments verry well designed, and best sound i have seen in any game.

Political and economic systems that ensure unique drama on each server.

Guilds get in political discotions and you get castle sieges, players realy change the world in this game.

Guild wars is a fun game also you can have fun in 8vs8(now 12 vs 12) pvp fights

    I play both(GW has a secodary game)

A warning before you consider Lineage 2: it's all point and click...controlling it through the arrow keys is only half implemented. I tried it a little while ago and while much of the rest of the game looks enjoyable, the click to move aspect killed it for me. If you don't mind that, it'd likely be a good game to try...otherwise I'd recommend something else.

Guild Wars is a FUN game. But it's not a persistent world, and it's not really a MMORPG in the traditional sense. Everything is instanced, except cities. The way it works is that you play PvE to unlock skills, and you use those skills to create a character that's only available in PvP. You can use your PvE character in PvP but it's usually not a good idea. It's 100% PvP, in a 'team arena' type setting. There is no 1vs1 PvP. It's all 4 man or 8 man teams. There is NO ganking. No free PvP. No world objectives to hold.

A good thing about it is that everyone competes on a level playing field. If you have a level 5 PvE character you can still make a lvl 20(max lvl) PvP character and not be disadvantaged in PvP, provided you have unlocked the skills you need. There is no uber gear in Guild Wars, and it's all about Team play and team skill. There is no end game PvE in the real sense. it's all PvP.

If you just run a PUG with 8 random players, you will be brutalized by a coordinated team that has a team build that works. The catch in GW is that even though you might have unlocked say 50-100 skills, you can only use 8 at a time! This is to encourage team play and stragetic builds. It's a good thing but also a bit frustrating to know that your character knows 'executioner's strike' but cannot bring it to the fight so to speak because you needed to spend skill slots to bring the obligatory 'sprint' and 'rez'.

The graphics are stunning and work at even lower spec computers. The game is technically VERY impressive. I'd say give it a go. I've had LOTS of fun with it. It's definitely a good game, but might not offer the full immersion factor of a 'real' MMORPG.

Im a hardcore gamer I left Lineage2, why you ask?

DIe in pvp=lose a lvl as well as any random gear can drop, this isn't the only reason either.

Just wait till you have to fight a pvp bot, lots of fun when you fight a pvp bot, Lineage2 is goind down the pipes letme just put it that way.  What NCsoft needs to do is start banning bots instead of passively supporting them or ignoring them.  I used to know lot of people who still played that about 3-4 months ago they all quit too, i quit bout a year ago now.

    Saga of Ryzom

However, it may be too hardcore for you...it sure was too hardcore for me and everyone in my surrounding consider me like a hardcore freak...I mean I could have play it...but, I feel it was way to harsh and hard for the benefit.

The community is very nice as well...anyway, me I don't like SoR...it is just that you gave no information but the fact you are hardcore...and SoR is definitively the most hardcore game out there...it is incredibly harsh, unforgiving, 'tedious', hard...

Me, I have put all my hope and I rejoice at the idea that in a few years, BIOWARE will change our lives with the best MMO ever!    But that is still a few years away.

if you gonna try L2 out, don't give up until u reach lv 40 caz that's where u really start the game. You probably will only find couple players in start up village or small town. it's normal, because most of players moved to higher lvl place such as giran or aden.(check out town of dion if u can, a good place for lower lvl players) also, make sure u manage your in game $$ well, otherwise u gonna have to shop on ebay.  ----- some advises from a L2 player

Guild War is more than a decent game.....I played it since released had a 3 month break and now starting to play again due to Factions been release

It's probably the best value game, great PvP action but PvE alittle limited

If you are looking for a truly hard core game and don't mind graphics that are a bit older and don't have to have open-ended PvP, you need to go to the original Everquest.  THAT is a hardcore game - serious leveling grinding, 8+ hour raids, loot-focused, HUGE ever-expanding world to explore, lots of roleplaying (if you choose a roleplaying server).

It doesn't get much more hardcore than EQ.

    DAoC

PvP when you want it in RvR combat.

Solo is fun too tons of quests, huge areas to explore.

Easy to group on Gareth server.  Lots to do, lots of variety and great community!

Sure graphics are old but if you want splashy looks go to GW or WOW.

Oh and you can try it for 14 Days FREE.
