I'm glad whales get ripped off, stupid is as stupid does
Just wondering if you realize that if the Whales leave, or "Wise up" as the case may be, you are pretty much going to watch almost every current MMO shrivel and die off.. because let's get real.. whales are what are keeping the lights on for every current F2P game, and every game with a cash shop.
That might be a good thing to you, but it also makes it so that backers won't put money into developing games, with no real plan for an solid or impressive ROI.
Personally, I think it was a stupid move by a company to undermine their Whales like that.. all it will do is build an animosity and inspire the majority of them to far more cautious about spending their money in the future, which is a death blow for those games.
Egotism is the anesthetic that dullens the pain of stupidity, this is why when I try to beat my head against the stupidity of other people, I only hurt myself.

and that is exactly what most want, teh whale wise up and stop tossin money on dev faces for crap and force devs to really work on they games

Fascinating watch! As to the OP, I would not be surprised at all if the admins make a "god-mode" character that "appears" to be spending money for the sole purpose of getting real players to spend even more money to compete.
I understand that for your own personal safety you can't reveal the smoking gun. But just know that these games do not concern themselves so much with fairness. They, much like any corporation, try to see how to maximize profits while getting away with as much as they can.
Be very careful not to fall into the money pit, because it does not end! I strongly recommend you watch the video that Forgrimm linked. It will give you a good outside perspective of how developers make these games.

This is exactly what needs to happen. And its not the death blow to gamers its the death blow to F2P game developers. leaving developers to build quality products that people will actually pay for.
What the OP is actually talking about is very lame marketing to get people to play. Yes cheating exists in most every game ,however in this type of case mentioned, there is no need to cheat to drive up the cash shop sales.
Lame tactics never work on me anyhow, when i see a developer or publisher trying to convince me to play for ANY stupid odd weird reason OTHER than the game simply being worth playing, then i know the game is likely crap.
Think along the lines of a used car salesman trying to sell you a lemon by tantalizing you with a free set of winter tires and a free oil change for 5 years.I want to buy that car because it is a really good car for my money and NOT because you are trying to bait me in.
Baiting tactics is just a simple way of telling you that developer is scummy and cannot be trusted for anything. You can also think along the lines of how many times we have seen a developer tell us to play their game because they have 40 million accounts or they have 10 !!! raid zones.Again i wan to play your game because it is a great game and NOT because you are using lame tactics to bait me in.
On the topic of cheating..sigh,it would make your head spin as to how many ways cheating happens in games.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Last poster mentions >>.F2P,that tactic banks on gamer's stupidity or their kind heart but is still closely related to stupidity.
Things like,oh i played this game for a month,i feel like i should spend some money now.If that game is not good enough to BUY outright i is not worth playing. If a developer cannot sell their game straight up,it is not worth playing. However soon as people see the word FREE,they are in and not long after spending money on the cash shop to compete via some form of pvp.

Just so you get a better idea.. without Whales.. your game choices would be very limited.
Think of this way.. every game you see that is F2P.. Gone
Any game that could not hold its sub numbers against WoW.. Gone.
Every Game with a Cash Shop... Gone.
IIRC this would kill every MMO currently on the market right now.
But... I imagine, in reality, here in the West, we would be left with pretty much a choice between WoW or EvE.

good? I like to play games not cash shops. I rather lose the illusion of variety that the current market portrays then have to filter out all the garbage.
I think the problem is that it seems people are very opposed to a monthly subscription even though that normally seemed to give a better experience than a cash shop "F2P' game. If devs/publishers try to recoup server costs/overhead/future development with a subscription, they lose a big chunk of players who think $0.50/day is a ripoff because they don't associate the cost of running a server farm and a team of developers with the subscription.
My question is why would you spend money on a game like this in the first place? You look retarded spending the most money in my opinion. I feel no sympathy for the poster because you choose a stupid system like this in the first place.
But what if the whales like pay to win because that way, they win? So long as there are a significant number of whales inclined to spend a ton of money on games so that they can win, there will be a lot of games intended to cater to them.
The ideal situation for a pay to win game is that a handful of whales pay a lot of money to win, and a great mass of free players who can't or won't pay for games at all get a free game to play. So long as they all realize what they're in for and the whales aren't spending money that they can't afford, there's nothing wrong with that.

The problem is the market is oversaturated and stagnant at the same time because whales keep games that should have died alive. There isn't as much space for new games to compete because we have zombies crowding the industry.
That is not even to mention. That the bad effects microtransactions has on gameplay itself.
