SOE probably will sugest Sigil to release it for Christmas, but in the end Sigil will decide if the game is ready or not.

I expect Sigil to delay the game as much as they need in order to ship a good game, Brad knows that releasing the game too early will be the end.

if added to the all access pass -  will buy

if it is not added - might wait a month of two to see what happens to it.

Yeah - i can't believe that they are going to release it this year but if they hear the "christmas bells" ringing they might jump right on that date....

SOE did that with EQ 2 - well actualy they rushed the release because of WoW i think but nevertheless they rushed and incomplete game

Just curious, why do most of the online retailers, like EBgames.com, etc. list it as shipping July 11, 2006?

"why do most of the online retailers, like EBgames.com, etc. list it as shipping July 11, 2006?"

    Two possibilites come to mind.

1> The online retailers have no incentive to keep their release date info up to date when a game slips. Aside from it being extra work for them, it is not ging to get them any more orders.
2> They are selling pre-orders in which case they have a power disincentive to acknowledge a missed release date - it might cause them to have to deal with refunds and so forth.

Of course my personal opinion is to lose the retailers completely and go for direct download of the game client. A direct download (no retail distribution) would allow the publishers to sell the games for the price of a one month subscription AND make a greater profit than they do on a 50 dolla retail release.

Online retailers will always have their release date about 2-3 months of whatever todays date is to encourage pre-sales.  Sigil has said a number of times that those release dates have nothing to do with reality.

Back to the OP's question.  Spring to Summer of 2007 seems to be the most likely dates for release.
