Fallen Earth: E3 2006 Preview

Fallen Earth, a post-apocalyptic MMORPG by Icarus Studios has been in the making for a long time. After countless meetings, we finally saw it in action.

image The post apocalyptic world of Fallen Earth will herald a great new genre in the MMO market. No elves, no dwarves, simply the gun toting remnants of humanity now mutated and trigger happy fighting it out in the good old Grand Canyon. With influence from Mad Max and a multifaceted mutation system for players the game covers some great new areas.

The game will run well on a three year old machine, but takes advantage of newer hardware. The graphics look good and the artwork is ideal for the gritty world in which the storyline is set. Players have multiple ways to customize their characters as normal but also can add tattoos, piercing, clothing armor and weapons. Everything you wear will be seen on your character. A quick click on your rifle will either arm it or holster it. All points of view are available especially first person for shooting and third person for hand to hand combat.

    I don't know how much longer I can wait ! ! !

    Most features in the game are looking nice.  I am not so sure about some, I guess I'll need to see how they are in-game.  Overall, this is my most anticipated upcoming mmorpg.  I hope it isn't too much longer in development, but if I know Icarus, they will keep at it until the game is completed and exactly how they want it at release.

    If nothing else comes out of Fallen Earth, I will walk away with a good feeling about Icarus.  Thoughout the years I've spent following the game, they have carried themselves professionally and always made sure to keep us updated with important news.  I respect them for not hyping up the game or releasing too much info when they know it may change.  I think the final product will reflect their attitude in the making of it.

    By any chance there was a trailer made or some real footage shown that we can see?
    Anyway, this game sounds really special, instead of all that fantasy crapware publishers keep farting out, we can have something real

    I play now a 'post-apocalyptical' mmorpg ('without elves and dwarfs') since 4 years, so it's not realy a new genre.

    FE will be a very cool game, and I prefer wait a year longer to play it, as get a game with thousand bugs and incomplete features.

    Neocron (2) - A post-apocalyptical cyberpunk mmorpg with 3rd- and first person views.
    Release of Neocron 1 was 2002, Neocron 2 2006.
    10Tacle ist the Publisher, and ReaKKtor Media is the Developer.

    So, the Genre isn't new, there are just to less games in this genre. ::::09::
    I hope games like FE, TW und maybe the shooter Huxley will be some good new games in this genre.
    There are to much games with amazons, elves, dwarfs, orks and other scum like them.

    Go to google video and just search for Fallen Earth. You'll get the 3 videos they've already made, and the 1 fan made video. But yea, this didn't tell us what we didn't already know, and alot of it sounds more like the reviewer's hype than actual info.

    maybe some didnt know... like me.. and I like the idea.. and the article.. cant waite to see if there is anymore news i have not head about it...

    Playing daoc and loving it totally..

    and other..

    This game sounds a lot like the Fallout series to me, which I think was great. I hope it turns out to be a great game, because I am also sick of all the fantasy genre games out there, and prefer the sci-fi genre. Does anyone have any info on when it might go to Beta?
