Well based on some of the replies to this article it would seem the author's point was proven. People take raiding in FFXIV too serious. Most games I have PUG'd in over the years people rarely speak, even if someone is messing up. We just finish it, or don't and move on with our lives.
wrong its that on all MMO, if you belive ff14 is the only problem, lol
It also seems the be the one people get the most defensive over when it comes to defending over raiding toxicity. It's been number 1# on the top 5 list for toxic raiding environments for years now, and I have played hundreds and hundreds of MMOs so I've actually seen it all firsthand for myself.
or people complaining about others when he fails as a parasit, who can't help and belive others should be carried around.

I don't like raids, waste of time most of time and gear progression is normally killed in the next expansion, so at most is a waste of time, on worse, your live is so full of failure you need to win somewhere hence why you put so much effort.

I do pugs a lot, one fail or 2 is ok we know thing can get wacky on internet, but you also tend to not be much forgivin for people who afk a lot, who don't help and want to be carried, becasue he is busy in RL, that is all lack of character and being a annoying prick, if you fail to undertand the nuances, then you are as part of problem like you belive others are
FOR HONOR, FOR FREEDOM.... and for some money.

This article is so full of shit.

Yes mean people exist in FFXIV, what a surprise. The game has millions of players but those people in PF are not the problem. They do need to relax a bit but that is another story

Before I start, I need to mention that savage is optional. There is no point in it unless you want a real challenge. The gear upgrade from savage is literally nothing.

Now back at the article, if you look at the picture with the party finder you will see in the back someone literally having a party with "PRACTICE PHASE 1". If you don't want people to scream at you then:

1.Read what the party is doing. Some don't require step 2-3.
2.Google and see if there is any guides, if none, jump to 4
3.Do a quick read up so you get familiar with the raid
4.Go for a practice party. You will need it.
5.Clear after a shit ton of practice.

Why would anyone who practiced for days accept someone who doesn't know any mechanics. Instead of 45 min they should spend a full day trying to teach that 1 person how the raid works.

The savage content is not something you learn in a few wipes and 1 person can wipe a full party easily (aka you can't get carried).
This is a guide for the last savage phase in question:
Does that look like something they should do blind?

Now, related to the main story quest dungeons, people "screaming" at you. Say what? Are we still talking about FFXIV?

Never did I see someone screaming at me for watching cutscenes in dungeons. Normal dungeons cutscenes usually takes 5sec where they show parts of the dungeon from a drone like camera. Nothing related to the story but you can watch, no one will scream unless is a dumbass and he will probably be flamed by the rest of the party.

MSQ dungeons that have msq info in them, the cutscene can't be skipped. Currently only 2 in game and they said multiple times those we're a really bad decision when they developed them.
MSQ roulettes have this 2 dungeons in them and no one can skip the cutscene. The roulette is one of the most rewarding roulette and it takes like 30-45min to clear it (20-30min is only watching cutscenes)

So what msq dungeons do we speak about?

..and, that's why I hate today's "MMO's". If you do end game content with a mind-set like this, then you pretty much don't actually care at all about the others who .. might actually give a shit about what they do in a (end-game) MMO.
Yeah, back when I started playing MMOs I remember good conversations with random people you met in the wilds, buying stuff for a good price off a random passersby in open world dungeons, sharing food buff items with people struggling with a critter, not so much these days. Now it's just spam your crap in in map chat, wach someone get stomped and walk away, and I've learned few people are even worth talking to local or PUGs anymore, not sure why but it is what it is.

    I will say this outright...

When i played FFXI for umm around up to 7-8 years everything was friendly as heck. Then all of a sudden some new players would arrive and start this whole SPEED RACE RACE,everything was a race to finish everything as fast as possible.

This is why when you often hear say things like 99% of mmorpg gamer's are NOT there for a RPG experience, they belong more in a WOW atmosphere, show off, brag, run your instances 24/7,look at yourself on leader boards...world firsts yada yada the whole ME ME syndrome.

Now with FFXIV i was there in the beginning,it didn't seem too bad but mostly because people were running in blind. Here is the funny part,ALL of those early players that did not have a clue,no video to watch had to rely on each other having PATIENCE.They had to work together to figure things out.
Now fast forward, all those people seem to forget their past, now all of a sudden they are self proclaimed elitists with some big rush to get nowhere fast.

Bottom line, tons and tons of idiots out there, they join a MMO that is about working together yet ALWAYS think of ME ME first.I don't want this noob because it slows ME down,i don't want to help a noob because i am an elitist now watch ME roar.

I feel sorry for all those having to endure gaming now a days, you missed some real fun times in the early years of FFXI,nothing was a rush, wander around and explore, people were willing to try anything because ...why not,it's just a game.

When the new raid came out in FFXIV, people were already DEMANDING that everyone knew the fight, ON LAUNCH DAY. These people have gone mad.

The shitters should join an appropriate party.

If they don't want do look up a guide/watch a video, they should join or create a fully blind party. Can't fill it this late in the tier? Tough shit, either keep trying or adapt to what the other parties want. There is no reason to waste 7 other people's time because you want to go in blind in a practice party thats already halfway through the fight, or god forbid, a clear party. That is outright incredibly selfish, and you deserve to be flamed for blatantly ignoring the PF description.

In your first picture "will replace if too many mistakes" is perfectly fair. Are you really saying the other 7 people should just sit there and wait as someone fucks up multiple times in a row, instead of just kicking them and getting someone better? In the SAME exact screenshot there are FOUR practice parties for that same fight. If someone is not confident in their ability to not fuck up, they need more practice, of which there is clearly plenty, as you can see.

The world does not revolve around any one singular person, they need to consider what the other 7 people want out of the PF, and teaching someone shit they should know is not what they want.

    TL;DR: practice more

it's not your parties job to carry your ass because you're too lazy/unwilling to look up a guide, and don't want to join one of the many practice parties before trying to leech off of a clear party

Part of the problem, bam. This is a classic MMO player - demands you know everything before you actually experience it. This kind of attitude is truly the most toxic part of any gaming community.

I've never hated groups of people much like this type of person right here, and it's justifiable. He wants you to play the game exactly his way or you'll get kicked, and it's the mind-set most MMO players want you to be in. Hell, I've seen normal raids where people REFUSE to invite others unless you have the achievement that you killed the final raid boss.

Makes the game not a game anymore, makes it a competition. It's crazy the level of insanity these neck-beards will go to get the best phat loots. Anyone who thinks this way need a good dick-smack in real life.
