When are they going to fix the real problems like with shovelware and such on their storefront? A new coat of paint won't help a car with a failing engine!

When are they going to fix / stop the hackers from trying to access your account 19x per day?

I have very nasty things to say about Steam.

I look down my list, I find the game I want to play and I click play.

Brilliant design as far as I am concerned. Maybe it's an issue for people who have 1000+ games.

Presumably people have been saying the same thing for years as they went about adding reviews, cloud saves and all the rest.

All the rest since this seems to go beyond simple "library" changes e.g. how you connect with friends.

Now in the past those changes may have come from feedback and presumably the belief that they would "drive sales". If so I am sure those are reasons for these changes also - and perhaps the added drive given by new purchasing platforms. Not just Epic and Discord but Google, greater MS/Sony collaboration, Amazon.

Whether any of them are "needed" though ....

no not at all, sort by "installed" only then you wont have 1k games in your list (im close to 500 and only have 50 installed) then tag your fave games as "favourite" then its all gravy you will have a fave list with x amount of games then an installed list which shows the games you havent favoured!
steam changing the library is more akin to modernising a look most likely to be more like the epic launcher (calling it now)

The screens of the new interface clearly show they are adding community features to the library game pages. Plus, some things you would usually see on the activity feed. That's all really. The list down the left side will still be there and it looks like we'll have a lot of control over what info is or isn't displayed on the right side.

So what needs fixing? If your account isn't compromised then it sounds like there's nothing to fix.

I have never had this happen once. Sounds like you need to learn how to protect yourself and not blame steam.

Yeah, Steam's library is perfectly fine as it is. Why do I get the distinct feeling that my game list is about to be over inundated with ads?

I bet that the vast majority of people are going to hate whatever this change actually is.

If we know anything about marketing, their team has been constantly trying to think of ways to get people to impulse buy or to just spend in general.
There would be people paid large salaries to make sure STEAM operates at max value and paid to investigate new ideas,so this is what the over paid employee is doing, investigating new ideas.

Everything is about $$$$,the CEO wants to see % increases, profit increases and bonuses are a big incentive.

It is like when you walk into a grocery store and your like ....WTF,they changes the entire setup, now i can't find anything. They never think of the negative but only look to the positives, hey if we scramble things around people might wander more and buy more on impulse.
Everything is an AGENDA now a days, dishonesty on the rise, deception on the rise, morals and fairness on the down swing.

Welcome to the human race, self destruction imminent.

Steam's announcement is worded in that patented form of slimy corporate-speak for "we've figured out a way to charge you a 'convenience fee' to breath air!"

well steam doesnt know anything about marketing tho...... they got no exclusives and cannot count to 3....... i mean if they made portal 3 L4D3 HL3 TF3 they would have satisfied those 2 criteria. but valve (id still take them over epic any day) are just a bunch of doyles as a company..... they shoulda had those sequels/exclusives out years ago but now the voice actor for gordon freeman died !

I for one need it overhauled. I have humble bundle and many times I don't have time to try every game I get from it and they end up getting lost in my ever growing list of games. I would like better visibility on games I haven't installed/played yet, updates to said games and tons of other potential ways to make the library pop. So, I am glad this is getting work done on it.

I've been waiting for this. Organizational improvements are very welcome. Better presentation is also welcome. I like BigPicture mode but I play on my PC and don't want it taking up the entire screen.

Also, I have a ton of games on my "Follow List". I keep my Wishlist small. Follow is where I keep track of games I'm interested in, including stuff I already own. Hopefully library improvements will also include better info about the stuff I have installed so I don't have to go to my Follow list.

I agree. I hope they redesign Big Picture. Thanks to BP I can play Fallout 3 and NV using a non Xbox gamepad with zero issues, but the BP mode is very clunky and weird. They tried to give it a console interface feel but it fell flat. Can't even alt tab properly without leaving BP first.

Box art option for your library has been there for quite a long time. It's called "Grid View." What this does is give you the list on the left and grid view on the right together which you can't choose now. It's just one or the other now.
