    Every time I read one of these stories, I'm filled with the urge to play Eve again, but I know these types of player driven "events" are rare compared to the amount of time spent faffing about getting from point A to point B.

    Its the latest surprise mechanic! whether a hyperlink will contain any content, nobody knows until you click on it, now all they have to do is monetise it! ;)

    This game has the best stories. And you know, there are several indy games being made right now that promote the idea of player community. They should study this one.

    I think they have. Lots of papers also written about the economic aspects.

    Another fascinating aspect is the move of EVE to the mobile phones.

    That the mobile phones come into the computer power range of computers from the beginning of EVE some 15 years ago is an important development.

    Even more so when the trend to use end-user-equipment only as streaming displays and run all the games on server farms instead of locally will make it possible to play EVE (almost) anywhere on (almost) anything. That may give EVE a revival boost.

    Interesting.  Still don't want to play EVE though.  Medieval Fantasy Epic Adventure/War (LotR, SoIaF/Game of Thrones, Willow, Excalibur) > Sci-Fi Space Operas/Themed Stories (Ender's Game, Star Trek, Star Wars, Alien)

    This game has always had super cool  player made drama. I haven't tried it, but have admired from a distance. A safe distance.

    I played eve using the first android phone ever created and vnc. To say that having eve ported to mobile would get me giddy is an understatement as it is the perfect type of mmo for it. Alas they are making a different mobile game. I just hope it’s everything Eve is and nothing less or it will be shit.
