With its latest update, The Division 2 will allow players to better target specific pieces of loot to build their characters and take on new content. Following the update, players World Tier 5 and higher will be able to see which type of loot will be rewarded for completing certain activities. With new updates to the mini-map, players will be able to hone in on exactly where and what to play to seek their intended drop.

Anyone know if there's still a chance to find any item, anywhere? Or is that getting removed with this update?

So end game ends sooner? That's what always happens when you speed progression up and add nothing to end game.

Does anyone in this thread complaining about these changes actually play the game?  Someone did the math on it and you currently are approaching infinity on the number of drops you'd need to get a "god roll" of an item you were seeking in this game.  Anything they can do to bring that figure down into a realistic concept is a step in the right direction.  /boggle

While true, I feel there are more constructive ways they could have gone about reducing the odds such as unlocking mod slots, removing useless brand variations, and ensuring higher item level actually equals better stats... this would have made more gear better instead of just the same 99.99% useless drops only it's guaranteed to be a [insert type here].

Don't get the problem. Having rotating map wide objectives is fun. It's just fun! It improves the endless gear grind and gives you more things to do. There is no downside if the random loot drops from anywhere haven't been changed.

It's a shooter aRPG. Grinding for those perfect stats is the whole point.

This type of game mechanic is what ruined World of Warcraft. Hey kids, we understand your time is precious, so we're going to eliminate all that boring grind and just point you in the direction of your next piece of phat loot.

If you like grind so much, you should play the plethora of MMOs available to you that allows that. You're the equivalent of an old man complaining that kids are running a muck in his front lawn.

I also have a feeling you don't even play this game so why bother posting? Also, if you want to play old WoW so badly due to your outdated viewpoint of "lol everything they did ruined WoW" then they just made a version of it just for you!

I don't disagree that there's more to be done.  But *mumbles something about a journey of a thousand miles beginning with a single step*.  Literally anything is better than the current loot system atrocity in D2.

Lets comment on other commenters and not about the topic of discussion.

Anywho, I do agree, but not wholeheartedly affixed to the statement that this holds potential in ruining end-game grind seeking. Perhaps, narrowing down categorically is fine, since stat RNG heavily impacts gear. I can see this working if re-visiting these "named NPCs," or the likes to be possible.

Its not about grind my friend its about value to your time. I mean why invest hours of your life into a MMO if the rewards don't have value and merit to your time investment.

I'd like to rewrite your post from the opposite viewpoint, Just for laughs

If you like grind easy mode so much, you should play the plethora of MMOs available to you that allows that. You're the equivalent of an old man Millennial Brat complaining that kids  I cant buy a home are running a muck in his front lawn  Because Boomers rigged the game and i want to take 10 vacations a year and drink 6 dollar coffee every day.

I also have a feeling you don't even play this game so why bother posting? Also, if you want to play old Retail WoW so badly due to your outdated entitled viewpoint of "lol everything they did ruined Retail WoW" then they just made a version of it just for you!

I swear that this game has just dropped off the world's radar within weeks of launch. Even Anthem has remained part of the discourse (for entirely negative reasons), but I hear nothing at all about The Division 2 after everyone finished worshipping the game around launch.

What is the state of the game now? Is it worth a purchase?

I bought it a couple weeks ago. It's very populated. If you check the reddit it's very active there.

Game is great. It has a much a better endgame compared to Destiny imo; no time gating on how many upgrades you can get each day and better gear can be found anywhere and by doing anything. Endgame is definitely where the real game begins as well, everything gets flipped when you finish the main missions but I won't say more than that. I'd still be playing it if Borderlands 3 hadn't just launched.

Don't bother with the season pass if you do get it. It's practically a support the game option so only grab for that kind of reason really.
