Just saw the graphics upgrade video and it was jaw-droppingly good. I'm definitely buying. If they can do what BDO did with the Remaster, then this one's a winner.
You have 2 weeks to play AA:U in the test server and the cash shop is also in the test server so you can check it is p2w or not.
Frankly without written legally binding guarantees - what they release at launch doesnt mean diddly poo when they can simply go back on their word and go heavy P2W after the initial sales drop
This is what Trion did essentially. The cash shop in the original launch of AA had nowhere near as many pay to win elements, but a month or two in they started adding the rare materials into the shop (I remember the thunderstruck log uproar).
Yep.
Same thing BDO did.
Same thing most any game will do when incoming sales start to dip - turn up cash shop.
Same thing AA Unchained will do - I mean both XL and Gamigo are married to P2W cash shops - look at their track record.
Just amazes me to no end how naive some gamers are - the P2W cash shop is inevitable in AA Unchained, only a matter of when post launch they do it.
Unfortunately, people will have to experience this for themselves. This is one of those things where reason and logic wont reach past wanting something that could've been. For a lot of people, Archeage was 'the one' and they are finally hearing and seeing things close to what they think they want.
Gamigo isn't a stupid company by a long shot and they would honestly be stupid to not attempt this to milk a good amount of money before converting it back to how it usually does after 2-3 months. All we can do it hope this ends up being therapy at least for some of the burned ones. It sucks seeing companies taking advantage of emotions, but its easy money and they want it.
Lets not forget that every fresh start had a PTR build that was ultimately changed last minute by the time it hit live and if there were things that were 'wrong' Trion would ultimately blame XLGames for it. Just food for thought if people are thinking this test build really has weight to it.
I was kinda sad when I found out about the launch delay, but this might be good in a way. It might mean that they are making sure the game launch will be as perfect as they can get it to be. Cant wait to get it on steam, AAU will be awesome!
Player A: YOU LAUNCHED TOO EARLY!! WAAAAH! SERVER ISSUES! WAAAH!
Player B: YOU DELAYED THE GAME?!? HAHA! WORST GAME EVER!! DURRR!
Pretty much what you get when people make themselves feel better by bashing something or someone else. Targeting the failings of others (real or perceived) gives them a distraction from their own. It has nothing to do with the status of the game, or even the game in question.
All I see are people trying to boost their own self-esteem at the expense of whatever makes for a convenient target.
Sad but true.
There was also a stream tonight and it seems they have already changed their alt policy from allowing 3 alt accounts, but only one online at a time to allowing them all to be logged in at the same time (multi-boxing) as long as automation isn’t used.
If they are already changing key policies at this stage, it makes me wonder what else is going to be changed.
The red flags were already up after allowing 3 alt accounts due to the way AA works and now this...
They didn't say we will allow, they said there is no way of policing that so as long as someone has PAID for the game and got it, they have a right to play it from another computer just like everyone else. But if they automate it, they will be banned for life. No compromise.
Your concern would be a "Red Flag"ish if the game would be Free to Play... That would mean people would create 1000 accounts and do that bs, and if banned, do it again and again. When it's not FTP, they have to pay the price and purchase the game every damn time which is unlikely with 99% of the players.
Honestly though, there is no way for them to know if it was him or his imaginary cousin playing from that PC so he said it straight up, they will treat such cases as if another person purchased and plays the game.
I don't see a problem with this. People complain that QA's are pointless because they do it last minute and don't take the time to fix anything till after launch. Seems OK to me. I have no leg in this race though. I am taking a wait and see approach.
I don't even plan on playing it and I still think these overblown reactions to a silly two week delay are ridiculous. Shows what big children a lot of MMO players really are

There's a lot more to it if you've been keeping track:
1. AA maintenance that was supposed to be 12h and ended up being 40+ hours of servers being down several weeks ago
2. After the maintenance - awful lag, login problems general shit performance on the new provider Gamgio is using - most of the issues persistent even today.
3. Payment processing went offline for a day
4. The AA forums were down for more a week
This was all in the last 30 days.
Now they delay launch by 2 weeks
So there's a pretty clear pattern of ineptitude here - you cant just focus on a 2 week delay and ignore all the previous blunders that show how Gamigo is not ready and lacks expertise to do another AA launch.
well to be fair this did also happen during trion time, so nothing out of the norm, with means anyone expecting gamigo doing things diferent are delusional
