Oh my god, they are incredible. I am in awe!

Just look at the variation in the faces of the races as seen in pics 5 to 8. They have been saying, for a long time, how much detail you can get from the character creation tool. They were right.

    My favourite

All hail the Pixel, for it is glorious Orange!

Wicked thanks angerr! I saw the wood elf one but not all the others. I love the variety and the races really look different. Lovin' it.

    Nice,

I really like the "ethinic" differences in the Humans, reminds me of my old DAoC days.

I don't see where people are saying this game looks bad. Looks good to me.

Sure it doesn't look like the "Bugs Bunny Road Runner Show" but it still looks pretty good to me.

Well for a start them armoures are not in game yet.. There are no hemlets that show on heads.

The only way to tell races difrence is heads. There are no boats :)

The housing they have has a very nice vib to them in each of the town's but the landscape between the towns is awfull very bland

The one thing that does look sweet ass in game thats in them hype pictures  is the Bow's.  They do look like that in game and sit on your back. by the looks of it Ranger (the war has can use bows and sit on your back) is going to be a pwnage class with some nity ranged moves then when target get close your sword turn's to lighting and sounds like thunder

You know I was thinking about your comment yesterday about that. I just restarted my EQII account last week (taking an L2 break) and made one the the cat guys. He is basically the same thing. He has a "cat" head stuck onto a human torso. Not even the armor is different for the tail. The tail just kinda comes out of nowhere in the armor. The rat guys are alittle better at "looking realistic" but not much.

The only game to really make some "realistic" ananomy characters was Horizons. The cat guys there had the rear facing legs. The beastmen looked like beastmen. (goat lower body, horns and some wild hair choices) Dragons are completely different in everyway, they run on 4 legs and can eventually fly. They where also the first to offer a dryad (fairy type) race with some beautiful customization. The dryads fly around rather then walk. The Lizard guys in Horizons also have a more realistic run and tail setup. More hunched rather then just a human animation. I really don't like the lizard guys in EQII because they really do look like humans with a lizard head stuck on them. All in all I think the customization is better in Horizons for SOME of the races because they are closer to a realistic look.

AC2 also had some original looking races. The Tumeroks where truely unique looking. Lugians where just cool, lol. Giant blue/grey guys with very "alien" looking eyes.

Most MMO's have the "star trek syndrome". They are just people with funny mask or pointy ears. As great as the customizing is in SWG and EQII overall they are not very unique or original looking. Granted SWG is based on someone else's ideas they are just guys with funny faces or people with horns on their heads.

Very much true Which is why i was expecting a little bit more from SOH...

I will say in eq2 there body's shapes where difrent cats where a lot more slim humans where chunky Halfings where fat and dumpy, Barb had big heavy frames you could tell the them apart by looking at them. (from what i heard this is very hard to scale armoure for) and why SOH have same bodies and it realy is atm ver hard to tell them apart and when helmets come into the game you have no cance. They have sqaure body shapes. EQ2 was much more shaped

In my posting i may seem a little bit brash and harsh.. I do belive it down to having to much hope for Vangaurd.. I been after this game for 2 years now and my hopes where a little to high :(

There is a lot of potential I just hope the soe deal have giving them the cash and time to do it right..

It very much an empty Canvas atm

BTw i do beta test every other night for as long as i can stand but i don't know how much longer i can go on as it just no fun and to repative. Which is a hell of a lot more than some testers do

(i do belive SOE have more say in the game than the Sigli and soe are leting on)

I guess that part of my point with SOE vs. this game. The only real difference is body shape (fat, skinny, tall and short) there is no real racial destinction like foe example AC2's Tumeroks or Horizons Cat / lizard / beastemn / Dryad folk and Dragons.

Even the AC2 Lugians where just not "enlarged" human frames. They had a "different" build all together (from the humans) They had that stocky / large/ but slightly fat looking shape. Something humans couldn't copy in game. (not to mention they where easily twice as large as a Human) Youcould easily pick out a Lugian or Tumerok from a Human even at great distance.

But I guess that’s the price we pay for high detailed models. It's just too much work to cut and clip armour to suit all different model shapes :( kind of sad really the better Graphics get the blander and un-unique things become :(

odd, i have seen multiple videos with boats in the game, and all the demos were done on the beta server so not to sure what you are talking about regarding the boats not being in game yet.

unless ofcource only the Dev's can use boats ATM (like flying mounts) but w/e either way they will be there soon enough.

i agree about the character models though, i cant stand that they all look the same except for the head....eq2 did the same thing.

that being said i still like vanguards models 100x more than eq2's.....i hate eq2's models with a freaking passion especially the darkelfs.

I don't see that it really matters whether boats, helmets or any other piece of sundry is in the beta yet. The fact is they were all displayed marvellously by Sigil at E3. If they are not in now they could well be so soon because they are obviously working. That is all that matters.

Oh, and just to clear another thing up that has been mentioned:

    EQ2 Wood Elf

    Vanguard Wood Elf

Ok, so there are similarities. You know why though? Because they are both wood elves and are both going for realism. If another new game, on the block, created a wood elf and decided to go for realism I bet it would look similar and people would go...ooh look it's Vanguard.

In a nutshell there are great differences. The hair is so much more life like in the VG models; it doesn't have those silly highlights you couldn't lose, and it looks freer. Then, and it's a small thing which is barely noticeable, but the skin seems more accurate to me. The colours and the pigmentation are more realistic. I bet that, with VGs proposed extensive character creation module, you will get far more variation in wood elf design than you could in EQ2. As far as I was concerned all different characters of each race looked the same in EQ2...no matter what you did to try and alter them.

This game is looking 200% better than it did before E3 and it has overshadowed the SOE news. Many people are thinking 'sod SOE; I gotta play this' and the diehard SOE haters are having to come up with the most basic of gripes to substantiate their feelings.

All hail the Pixel, for it is glorious Orange!
