I'm so confused as to how the hell Mortal is still up and running.

I have to assume it's a passion project at this point, because there is no way it makes enough money to support more than a couple of devs living off ramen.

I think this young guy had or inherited a lot of money didn't he?SO it is like HIS game, the game he wants to play and i also agree,it can't be making any money at all.Likely also has some of his friends playing as well,so like his own little hangout,no big deal enjoy.

I remember trying the game way back when.I don't remember much at all,i think i only played for about a week or less.I remember picking rock and i remember the game not being that bad but it was competing versus better games at the time and still is.Like i was already playing 2 other mmorpg's at the time,so i just had no time for Mortal.

It does some things other games do not so you know not a terrible game. There are much worse games out there that have more players so yeah.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Not so sure their second game was a huge hit either:

Didn't they also do a Mortal BR that didn't do very well?

Wasn't this the first "Early Access", give me money now we have nothing, gamble on us, game that failed miserably, and no one learned anything from it.

So I guess its a switch to UE4 with them calling it 2, sounds more like MO 2.0. Or maybe something like what Darkfall did when they created the 2nd iteration.

I played this and even volunteered as a counselor for a while. This really is a passion project for the owner so i dont see it going away for a very long time. I havnt played it in years but i still remember fondly the time i spent there. It was pretty obvious at the time though that it was going to be a little too cutthroat for new players. Between thieves robbing you blind to pvpers camping outside town gates ready to loot everything you carried I knew that new player retention was going to be difficult. Only thing that saved them was the noob protection but that only lasted so long.

I think it was and it was my first and last mistake in terms of early access. I remember that I've even bought the biggest package for 80€ after I have met the devs at Gamescom (or was it even the predecessor Games Convention?) and they seemed pretty confident to me. Boy was I wrong xD! But believe me when I say that I definitely learned from this.

If you want new players why allow this type of harassment. Beyond me why these developers never learn.

Apparently they think there is a a bunch of untapped players that don't know about a game with a rule set like this. But if your the kind of person that enjoys the above, believe me, you have already tried this game. If they are really serious about bringing in new players ya gots to ditch the full loot, its the only chance games like this have. Full loot games like this always devolve down to a few hundred players - always.
