Join Aaron - also known in New Eden as Jin'Taan - as he recounts his latest escapades in EVE Online - which surprisingly don't include a ton of blowing up player spaceships. This time, NPC ships are in his radar as he checks out what Invasions has to offer.

very well written and interesting article. I havent played EVE for several years now, i have a 14 mill sp character sleeping somewhere, and this made me want to awaken him again, even though i never really seem to get into the game for large amounts of time, i do have some good memories from this game, especially the old northern war! that made me some good friends whom i used to talk to for hours, even when not gaming.
only SWg, EVE and UO ever game me these kinda memories. thank you for a good article that spawned alot of great memories in me! :)

EVE has already tons of PVE content, adding more is welcome but it doesn’t solve the underlying problem.

For new players it’s difficult to access PVE content without the interference of PVP gankers.

Yes EVE is a PVP game, but it is also a very hard game to learn, and having no real safe zones to learn the game and build your bank account to a point where ships become expendable, is really hard.

This is a welcome feature for existing players who stuck with the game, but I don’t think it is the solution for attracting new Carebear players.

If you are required a Corporation to play PVE in relative safety, most Carebear won’t even bother.

As an admirer of EVE Online for the few tries I've had at it, but not a fan, usually, PvP I found this article entertaining & educational. Builds-up my yearning to try EVE Online again maybe lol.

I confess this article actually stirred my interest in EVE for the first time in over two years.

Something new to do was always a big factor which kept me coming back, maybe it's time once again...

A very interesting article. I have been playing EVE on and off for the last ten years and have fond memories of it, with my corpmates and my enemies altogether. Maybe its time to return!

EvE lives until Star Citizen releases, CCP might want to look into a pve server only. Might make alittle money from folks coming back ?

The chances of having your pve interfered with by PVPers are way overblown.   Almost better to stay out of a corporation as many of them get wardecked and then PVE is dangerous.

Interesting idea. Or maybe have PvE instances - in a way that didn't mess with the economy. Sort of zero penalty PvP in a primarily PvE game except in reverse.

I doubt there would be enough people who would pay a subscription for it though. Maybe a b2p model? Or an optional extra for subscribers?

A concern will be that doing this would drain the existing population? Not sure - in mmos PvP tends to be the minority niche. The current population trend would also be a factor. If its static or in decline that would be a reason to think about it.

As for SC - it has to be considered a "threat".

Maybe SC won't pull existing players away but it could reduce new subscribers - essential to replacing people who leave. Maybe it will launch and never achieve "maturity". Maybe it will expand the market! An impact is more likely though.

Planning for SC though would be sensible. Whether SC will release next year or 2025 it would be wise to plan for it and this could be an option.

EVE does have real instances now, in the form of abyssal dead space.  For solo players in cruisers and trios in frigates.

They're actually pretty good.  With "selectable" difficulty, and where knowledge of mechanics (how ships actually fly) keeps you alive or not.

Practice doesn't make perfect, practice makes permanent.

The PvP system and ingame economy works real well together in EVE. Always enjoyed the pvp, people always coming up with new setups, strategies etc. But it is nice to see PvE content being worked on, its nice to have something to do when you need a breather.

I told that I would be back to EVE and I will try again. EVE is a complex game and I love its complexity, and now it has increased by far in the way PvE is working. I welcome the good news, and I think the game could cater to the PvE players as much as it attracts the PvP ones.
