IMO the key to a great battle pass is keeping it really simple so even the most casual player can complete it. Ones that require too many specific things end up being a real PITA and feeling too much like work. Will be interesting to see if they can make the proper adjustments to have it work for everyone. The passes will probably be the main source of income for this version so hoping do/fix it right.
You know what I love about White Knights who defend games? The fact they aren't even playing the game, but rather spending their time posting in game forums. I just realized, that in all my years of gaming, not once did I ever stop playing a game I was having a blast in, just to comment on a thread, let alone 3, 4 or 5 threads. If I like a game and the game is good or popular, it speaks for itself. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather be playing the game that's so awesome than defending it from obvious flaws on gaming site forums. Just my opinion of course.
You've either never had a job, or have a really hard time seeing things from someone else's perspective. Have you never been in a situation where you were not able to play a game, but could still browse the internet? Some people work and then have free time to surf the net. Possibly even make a post on a website forum. Magical, I know.
I don't consider myself a white knight. I'm just tired of news always being negative. There are people enjoying AAU. So far Gamigo has held to exactly what they said they would do, and I purposely choose not to believe the fake prophets of this forum. Even if they do end up changing the cash shop 6 months from now, that's still 6 months of awesome gaming, in one of the best games ever designed. I could choose to be an upset negative scrub because of previous experiences, or I can enjoy playing a great game. Seems pretty logical. The people who have issues in my eyes are the ones that don't even play the game, yet purposely hunt/troll every topic regarding said game in an effort to keep people from playing. That's insane.
I'll pass on any pass. I never started to despise games until this crap came along.
In the FPS world, you buy the game for 50 bucks and that's that. However, that wasn't enough for pieces of trash like Activision / Blizzard... providing in-game bonuses for subscriptions etc.
In the MMO realm, I'd rather buy the game and pay a monthly fee. At least then, everything done from within the game would be considered fair.

I've been having fun with it. I know it could eventually turn P2W but for the time being it's really nice to be able to play without it. World PvP being this active also makes leveling way more interesting than before. I've been having fun just joining other players and running around pvping. Once it gets P2W I'll drop out but until then I'll likely just keep playing.
I'm gonna stick with it for a while longer hopefully the archepass will be simplified so everyone can complete it weather hardcore or casual . I am having fun in the game tho it's probably one of the most feature rich sandbox mmorpg's out there . And if you love the genra and pvp your relly just missing out . If your salty about the p2w from the past rest assured that is totally gone . it's play to win now for sure . There are a few bugs and glitches but those will be patched out in time nothing seems to be game breaking tho for me at least .

The people I'm talking about aren't here to keep tabs on a game they are interested in playing. They are simply nerd rage trolling because ArcheAge wronged them 5 years ago. Their comments aren't insightful or helpful, they are ignorant and serve no purpose other than them being argumentative towards people who want to have an actual conversation regarding something they are interested in.
Imagine trying to talk to someone in a coffee shop about something you're interested in and the guy behind you keeps blurting out hateful shit to you and your friend. You ask the guy if he is interested in the subject or has any actual, current and factual knowledge on the subject and he says "no"... but wont stop telling you that you are wrong and that "he told you so" every time you show concern about something potentially negative regarding the subject.
You would tell the guy to STFU, leave you alone and ask the manager to kick him out. Those people are here, on these boards. It's disruptive and derails every conversation someone tries to have.
First, you are correct. I'm retired and have been since I was 41. In regards to your argument of White Knights versus Doomsayers, it's partially correct. As with any differences of opinion, you have those who are extremists. Those are the one's who can damage the future of MMOs. As for AAU, only time will tell, but if anyone even pays attention to our historical past would know, 9/10, this game is destined to flop and / or go P2W.
As for those defending Gamigo, claiming them as some beacon of hope in the gaming community, they are not. Nothing they have published is not P2W. This is their so called "first attempt" at correcting their long history of that by putting a band-aid on it and calling it all good. Why do I not trust them? Simple, they left in the cash shop. Why would they leave in the cash shop? Because they know it's a guaranteed way to bleed idiots dry. You also have people claiming the ArchePass is being exploited and ruining the economy. You also have proof that a vote was taken about NOT releasing the land grab on Saturday, but they did it anyways. Anyone who thinks Gamigo or XL games cares what you think or feel, deserves whats to come.
If you use our "historical past" and your logic behind it, then every game will eventually let you down so why bother playing them at all... lets all just go out and buy the newest Xbox. Worst case scenario, it will always work as a Blu-Ray.
