First, you are correct. I'm retired and have been since I was 41. In regards to your argument of White Knights versus Doomsayers, it's partially correct. As with any differences of opinion, you have those who are extremists. Those are the one's who can damage the future of MMOs. As for AAU, only time will tell, but if anyone even pays attention to our historical past would know, 9/10, this game is destined to flop and / or go P2W.
As for those defending Gamigo, claiming them as some beacon of hope in the gaming community, they are not. Nothing they have published is not P2W. This is their so called "first attempt" at correcting their long history of that by putting a band-aid on it and calling it all good. Why do I not trust them? Simple, they left in the cash shop. Why would they leave in the cash shop? Because they know it's a guaranteed way to bleed idiots dry. You also have people claiming the ArchePass is being exploited and ruining the economy. You also have proof that a vote was taken about NOT releasing the land grab on Saturday, but they did it anyways. Anyone who thinks Gamigo or XL games cares what you think or feel, deserves whats to come.
If you use our "historical past" and your logic behind it, then every game will eventually let you down so why bother playing them at all... lets all just go out and buy the newest Xbox. Worst case scenario, it will always work as a Blu-Ray.
And I don't see people "defending" Gamingo. I see people playing a game that interests them and telling the game prophets to STFU with their doom and gloom predictions. For preface sake, I don't have any horse in this race. I don't play this game and never will, but not because of Gamigo or p2w, but because this game does not interest me. I could care less about all the "what if's" and possibilities of what this game may turn out to be. I come to these boards to read about games and to have a laugh at some of these pvp threads that develop here. Having said that.....
I'm not sure why people can't understand what @Rhoklaw is saying. I mean Gamigo and Trion turn EVERY game into some form of a shit show p2w garbage, yet people still keep acting like this time will be totally different. Sure, you can have fun now, "until it goes p2w", but you still have given them money. How many times does a company have to do wrong before people stop lathering them with cash? Some people just can't understand that this is largely the reason so many games made today are shit cash grabs. It's literally been ruining the gaming market for years and things are NEVER going to change until gamers change by speaking with their wallets.
It would have been so much simpler to just re-release this game as sub only. No cash shop, just a monthly sub like the good old times. They already have the f2p version for people who rather have a cash shop...

Sure it's all peachy now - but once sales dip - be ready for it.
If you look at their cash shop they are already charging around $20 for a costume and $35 for a glider. Where as on legacy a costume is around $15. I imagine the prices are just going to go up from here.
