I hope it doesn’t happen, but they seriously need to nerf ganking if they want this game to recover.
There are a lot of people playing almost exclusively pve. They would be perfectly happy with the total removal of all pvp. Just make the game more challenging so that more people die to pve or the economy would just crumble.
Gankers punishment does'n work.
Tell me one game where punishing PKidiots and gankers solve problem.
Symbiosis between pve and pvp players can work only if there is some kind of full protection.
You can do it through flag system, separated worlds or dedicated servers.
For EVE I think world mirror with gateways is best option. Players can jump between pve and pvp world trough dedicated gates. Separated economy, no items+ISKs can be moved between worlds. In pve world a lot more and harder npc ships and even more in deep space.
This is future for Eve.
Well I think this say everything about your problem.
and btw: if pve players stop playing after some time, why you care? These pve players NEVER play pvp only game. So there is no way how you or ccp can lose anything.
I don't know, why there are 'secure' space?
Maybe help make whole game 0.0 then?
You are sure this help, because this is pvp game right?

An NPC will always be more predictable than a human.
So there is no chance players will die at the same rate they do it in PVP.
The reason why people wants PVE only Server is because they basically can choose when engage and disengage a fight (cut your losses), while you can’t really do that in PVP where you will be ambushed and hunted to death.
There is also the issue that a PVE Player have to deal with double the threats of a PVP player, since he can die both from PVE and PVP.
I think that’s the main problem in my opinion.
The problem is not dying per se, but a PVE player in this type of game dies way more often than the average PVP player.
You can make PVE harder, in EVE is absolutely possible, while at the same time making resources more scarce.
In fact I strongly believe that PVE EVE with limited PVP can absolutely work.
For limited PVP I mean Corporation Wars or even some faction based war.
Basically all they have to is getting rid of Ganking while leaving the rest of PVP in.
I can assure you this will totally work for EVE.
This.
To me is such an obvious issue, how can’t CCP not see it?
As I said in my previous post, EVE without Ganking can totally work.
There will still be enough PVP to enjoy while being a little bit safer for people who prefer PVE.
(basically already is this way to some extend... just needs to be tuned up more on a PVE only server).
This will encourage teamplay, where dedicated Miners request escorts from the Corp they in or simply playing with friends in combat ships trying to clear out the asteroid belts for miners.
There are a lot of interesting ways to make mining valuable ore difficult and challenging with high risk stakes.
If CCP would launch a dedicated PVE server, fresh with no char transfers. I will be back in a heartbeat!
The reason why EVE is where it is today, is because Gankers/PK'ers like the Goons have been controlling/dictating CCP for years.
Destroying the population and chasing away new players with their behavior over the years.
I literally sometimes wondered who was actually in charge of the game. CCP or the gankers like Goons.
It were Goons and the likes who created the uprising against CCP with threats and what not, to make CCP cease development of Walking in Stations.
It was that point in time, I quit EVE indefinitely and moved on.
And don't start with how EVE Online economy is balanced by PVP. That is just hilarious.
Botting / multi boxing has been rampant in this game for many years. Not to mention corruption within leadership in CCP itself to look the other way.
The Economy in EVE Online has been hilariously broken for god knows how long.
Not to mention that practically two huge Alliances controlled the entire Nullsec space for years back when I was playing, controlling the entire economy of the game and generating ISK like candy.
EVE was never meant to be like that and CCP never cared, since these two huge alliances filled CCP's pockets due to all those botters / multi box players running dozens of accounts. Not to mention dominating the Player council and so influencing the direction of the game in their favor.
As long as the CEO "Hilmar" stays at the helm of CCP, nothing will every change! The whole CCP management is rotten to it's core!
All they can do right now is milking EVE Online for as long as they can, since all their other endeavors failed miserably.
This can work only if pve players can avoid at 100% any pvp fight while mining/running missions/do any other kind of pve activity.
Any form of FORCED PVP while playing any game = pve player quit.
btw: I think we can agree or disagree anything here, but it's waste of time because I don't thing single person from ccp reading this threads.
And for me I think Ccp have ZERO interest make this game more comfortable and interesting for pve players.
Ganking in high sec is blown out of proportion, likely by people how do not even play the game.

I can't agree more with these points.
Good to see you, been a bit dull around here.
While I realize ganking in high sec is exaggerated by some, the only two times I ever lost a loaded hauler was in or one hop out from Jita when suicide gankers nailed me.
While I was extremely wary bringing stuff in through wormholes or through low/null sec gates, I let my guard down thinking I was "safe" the final mile. I wasn't.
Lost quite a few ships during war decs in high sec as I just wouldnt stay docked up in a station for weeks on end, but eventually moved to null sec so I could be a member of a corp and PVE more safely.

I could have sworn the warp in distance was always 10Km ....
Weird...

“This can work only if pve players can avoid at 100% any pvp fight while mining/running missions/do any other kind of pve activity.

Not really.
Most people want both actually.
Being attacked by an enemy Corporation is fine for most Carebears.
Being in a Corporation has its pros and cons, if you don’t like the cons don’t join a Corporation.
But you also won’t get the pros, like getting access to rare materials in an area controlled by a Corporation for example.
It doesn’t have to happen every day in order to be a problem.
When you lose all you have in a single minute after weeks of grinding, that’s all it takes for most newbies to quit.
The High/Low/Null sec has been designed originally to give players the chance to play at their own pace.
If High Sec is not fully safe, then they should get rid of it as there is Low Sec which serves that purpose.
Your data not supporting this claim?
Guess which type of ship loss most impacts the player's sense of loss? (Don't have to be an armchair psychologist even)
They are even implementing "grief" counseling to help new players understand what they did wrong and may even restore their ship.
"Falcon explained that one of the defining moments that can change a player’s path in EVE is the loss of their first spaceship. In EVE, when a ship is destroyed by hostile NPCs, unfriendly players, or environmental effects, that ship is gone forever. This sense of loss is the backbone of EVE’s reputation as one of the most hardcore MMORPGs on the market."

You need to have data to have a discussion about something?
There is not data for this type of things, if there was, developers would always be able to make the perfect game, instead they have to rely on their own instinct and sometimes they get it wrong.
I was part of the community which is good enough to have an educated guess, as there is no official data available for the reason why people quits EVE, or any other game for that matter.
If CCP had such objective data, they would have fixed the problem already.
Unfortunately for them such data do not exist.
All you can do is playing the game and read their forums to understand the problem. Something they apparently don’t.
The game isn’t doing as good as it used to, so they are not doing the right things, at least we can agree on that.
And I figured it out already a couple of years ago, without any hard data on hands...
Edit:
I actually digress on the fact that players quit because they lose ships to NPCs.
Usually players who buys their first expensive rig tend to learn how to use it by running easy PVE content, they don’t choose to go for the hard content on their first or second run.
Only when they think they learned enough about the ship they move to harder content, and if they lose the ship they know that it was a calculated risk.
So they basically run PVE at their own pace and when they think they are ready they go for the hard challenge.
And if you lose the ship it means that you overestimated your actual experience, and you take it as a learning experience.
In PVP you can't do that.
You are forced to get into a fight with people much more experienced than you, whether you like it or not.
And when you lose your first expensive ship in a fight you never wanted, because you knew you weren’t ready yet, it’s hard to digest.
