Raised in a State famous for a Land Run, Red Thomas is the ideal guy to give his thoughts on ArcheAge: Unchained as the game stands now. Red talks about the differences he’s noticed in the game since the initial release to Western audiences and what that might mean to those still on the fence about getting jumping in.

I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil
ok, i was alerted by more than one ppl here...
now the main issue is EXPLOIT! after they "disabled" archeage, some found it was just the UI and not the archepass itself ... so what? look at reddit and others sites about how to modify a .DLL and get it back
on my server, tons of low level sell hundred of coins (you can recreate a alt without the 7days wait if you dont hit lvl 30)
no ban for exploiters, nothing coming from gamigo or XL, population halved (if not more) on my EU server
that's a blast!
so running for land? no need! lot of space avalable 2 weeks after the land rush cause of lack of taxes and ppl quitting already
Edit: spelling

I also remember some said it made playing east a bit more miserable but those who enjoy the challenge of being an underdog usually were OK with it.

Either way, I've enjoyed the PvE up to this point enough that I feel it was worth the entry price to me. That's probably why some of the current problems haven't bothered me much. I don't normally care a whole lot if folks cheat their way into extra cash or whatever, just as long as it doesn't impact me directly somehow. Now, if I couldn't get land because of it or something, then I might be more frustrated. As it is... I don't really care if other people cheat their own experience in the game. Even if they win in PvP, they cheated to do it and it's not going to bother me as much as I does some others.
It's probably that I'm a business guy by day. Lots of companies have unfair advantages over me. It's just the way the world works and it'll never change. I don't really care how well other people do, because I have no control over that. I just care about how well I do and how successful I am at meeting my own goals. That tends to bleed over into games a bit, I think.
They're not all equal, but all have value. For instance, Temperate climates are probably better early on because you need to grow so many trees and Pine trees are arguably the best option for a number of reasons, but there are still trees you can grow in all other climates. In fact, I think all plants/animals can be farmed/raised in all climates, just that they mature faster in the right climate. Other climates become more important later on, though. You start needing more exotic resources that grow better in those other climes, so I think it probably shakes out in the end.
I think it's about like anything else in life. There are choices that seem clearly better, but even if you end up with something else, there'll be reasons for why it might be pretty good, too. If you choose to be mad, you'll be mad. If you're open to the advantages, you'll find some pretty solid advantages. Military folks who get Korea for their first tour will know exactly what I'm talking about.
