EVE Offline is easy to check. Player numbers are at their lowest average since 2006/07. Not only are new players not sticking around, veteran players are abandoning the game or at least closing all their extra accounts.
Carebears are leaving because the reasons I mentioned in my previous posts, and PVPers are leaving because they have nothing to kill (AKA Carebears).
So logically the first thing you have to do is to revive the Carebear population and automatically PVPers will come back.
The notion that a PVP MMO can survive with PVPers only, has been disproved by the numerous FFA games that bombed because developers overlooked the fact that you need to make a game which also support the Carebears play style. Carebears which are basically the main content for PVPers.
It does happen frequently enough for new players to quit.
...your data to support such claim?
What data? You need to have data to have a discussion about something?
There is not data for this type of things, if there was, developers would always be able to make the perfect game, instead they have to rely on their own instinct and sometimes they get it wrong.
I was part of the community which is good enough to have an educated guess, as there is no official data available for the reason why people quits EVE, or any other game for that matter.
If CCP had such objective data, they would have fixed the problem already. Unfortunately for them such data do not exist.
All you can do is playing the game and read their forums to understand the problem. Something they apparently don’t. The game isn’t doing as good as it used to, so they are not doing the right things, at least we can agree on that.
Actually CCP did gather some hard data which proved many EVE players, new and otherwise quit forever after being wardec'd, particularly those living in high sec.
This lead to what I've read were substantial revisions to the war dec system this past year likely due in no small part to the influence of their new owners.
No idea how well the changes went or if it stopped the hemorrhaging, partly because they also screwed the pooch with the temporary removal of local from null sec.
It was just one of their more terrible ideas which they've implemented in the past few years which have negatively impacted the Krabs like me which sent us fleeing from the game.

Spout your nonsense someplace else. Eve is doing just fine. The only people that die in high sec are oblivious to how the game works. People are told time again fly what you can afford to lose, yet they still buy those fancy ships they don't have the skill to fly and take them in dangerous places. Dumb people don't do well in Eve. Oh, and there is lots of PVP in Eve anyone saying there is nothing to kill is completely insane!

EVE is clearly not doing "fine" which even CCP is well aware of.
Despite your scorn for "dumb" players, they are PAYING CUSTOMERS which CCP has been losing in droves and are trying to find ways to educate them rather than support veterans weird sense of superiority.

That's not exactly true.
Which amazingly done solely pvp mmo was released let alone failed because it didn't have a lot of pve players?
The best as far as quality would probably be EVE. But what is the other issue with EVE? It is a space game that feels, to many people, mired in menus. And on top of it, it really isn't "action oriented" as far as having a visceral dogfighting feel (which is a complaint I've seen.)
So which awesome pvp games, that are full on pure pvp games have failed because of what they are?
Most likely they failed because they were buggy, very "indy" as far as quality, didn't have enough money to truly see a quality game to fruition.
Now, why isn't there money interest? Because I do think pure pvp mmorg's are for a smaller audience. Especially because the very nature of the genre is to level and to have power gaps because of that leveling.
Not many people want to be level 2 and be offed by a max level character.
So, small group for this one. Not enough money for a properly created game and we get attempts from ardent fans who either have too little experience, not enough time, not enough resources.

...yes, of course you do.
No you don’t. If there is a lack of data you can still have a conversation trying to figure out what the problem can be. Of course if some data surface that prove or disprove what one is saying it’s obviously welcome.

EVE is at his lowest active players, so it’s not doing just fine. And the reason why is not doing fine is because people like you who insist things are ‘just fine’.
It does happen frequently enough for new players to quit.
...your data to support such claim?
Your data not supporting this claim?
No hard data, but this from CCP Falcon this past June during EVE North.
Guess which type of ship loss most impacts the player's sense of loss? (Don't have to be an armchair psychologist even)
They are even implementing "grief" counseling to help new players understand what they did wrong and may even restore their ship.
"Falcon explained that one of the defining moments that can change a player’s path in EVE is the loss of their first spaceship. In EVE, when a ship is destroyed by hostile NPCs, unfriendly players, or environmental effects, that ship is gone forever. This sense of loss is the backbone of EVE’s reputation as one of the most hardcore MMORPGs on the market."
Yes, exactly this. And I figured it out already a couple of years ago, without any hard data on hands...
Edit: I actually digress on the fact that players quit because they lose ships to NPCs. Usually players who buys their first expensive rig tend to learn how to use it by running easy PVE content, they don’t choose to go for the hard content on their first or second run.
Only when they think they learned enough about the ship they move to harder content, and if they lose the ship they know that it was a calculated risk. So they basically run PVE at their own pace and when they think they are ready they go for the hard challenge. And if you lose the ship it means that you overestimated your actual experience, and you take it as a learning experience.
In PVP you can't do that. You are forced to get into a fight with people much more experienced than you, whether you like it or not. And when you lose your first expensive ship in a fight you never wanted, because you knew you weren’t ready yet, it’s hard to digest.
I dont think the issue are more experienced pvp players, the issue is that, unless you buy injectors, more account time mean better flat numbers and there is nothing you can do about that.
So you'll face someone that is mathematically superior to you, and against your will, and again, there is nothing you can do about that.
Personally I never had problems with that. I don’t mind the fact that there are players better equipped than me. If I wanted to play an even field PVP I would play Mobas.
As I said, the major problem in my opinion is that you can’t really switch off from PVP, and when I am learning how to equip and drive a new ship I want to do it at my own pace without the inconvenience of being blown up in High Sec on my very first or second run.
When I think I am ready, I have no issue going out for some PVP and losing the ship. Losing stuff to more skilled and better equipped players is not the problem. Losing stuff when you are not ready for it, it’s the problem in my experience.
It does happen frequently enough for new players to quit.

Actually it doesn't work like that, while true initially it takes a finite amount of time to train a finite set of skills for most any activity in EVE.
Train (pay) long enough and you eventually reach the level cap on all applicable skills for a ship hull or career.
At this point you match anyone in game matter if they've played 10 years longer in a specific ship.
Fact is doesn't take very long to reach level 4 in most key ship skills and in a one on one fight you could easily best many in game, especially a person like me.
Except one on one isn't EVE, you should only engage when fairly certain of victory , otherwise withdrawing or avoiding the fight is the way to go when there are consequences for losing.

but it kinda becomes a grey area when you have players who are just trying to learn this very complex game in high sec getting suicide ganked by people with billions of isk who are just bored.
that is what drives new players away, these same players given time will learn the game make some isk and be able to advance into the low/null sec of the game and battle other players. and thats how the population grows.
Returning lost ship doesn't help. Even if you tell player why.
This hardly help to force new players to stay.

If there is a lack of data you can still have a conversation
That wouldnt'be a discussion but monologue.
Why? You can join the debate too, and give your opinion, like I do.
But in order to do so, you need to at least have played the game for a reasonable amount of time and be active on their forums.
So you can have your own take on what the problems might be, if there are any at all.
Then when real data surface, we can tell who was wrong and who was right.
Of course if you have data already available it’s much better. But in cases such as the reasons why people quits a game, it’s difficult to find real data. If developers had such reliable data, every game will be much more profitable than its current state.

Because of it, CCP never really get to see it as an issue.

Yeah that’s how clueless CCP really is. Just make High Sec safe, how hard can it be?
There is Low Sec for part time PVP and Null Sec for Full unrestricted PVP.
Why people are so against High Sec being 100% safe? High Sec is obviously far less profitable than the other 2 zones. So if someone wants to spend his whole game life in High Sec watching the ‘paint dry’, just let him. I can assure there are very few of those type of players that want to play EVE.
For the vast majority though, High Sec is just the Tutorial zone, eventually you will have to get out of it if you want to make some serious money or want to have some real fun.
It’s a win win situation, the only ones that will lose here, are those who blow up Newby ships in High Sec. Not a great loss are they? I mean do you really want to keep in your game people who scares away new customers?

It’s the second time you come up with the same sentence. Is that all you’ve got?
No I am not going ‘somewhere’ else. That’s usually the replies you get on EVE official forums when someone dares to report an issue with the game. And that’s also the main reason why CCP never do anything about those issues. People get ‘gently’ invited to go somewhere else to spout their ‘non sense’ and eventually they do, leaving CCP in the dark regarding possible issues with the game.
The issue is there, as few people pointed out in this thread as well, not just me. The question is, how big the issue is? I say it’s a big issue, but that’s debatable as we don’t have real reliable data. But denying there is an issue with Veterans griefing New players is either disingenuous or ignorant, whichever you prefer.

I mean do you really want to keep in your game people who scares away new customers?
Of course it becomes a monologue if you are not able to put more than two sentences together and have an actual conversation.
Do you actually have an opinion on something?
I never read a post of yours which were longer than two sentences.
