I just saw the note saying that Tranqulity will be down until 05:00. I'm a Network Administrator and know (on a much smaller scale) how difficult hardware transitions can be.

Cheers and best wishes to CCP

They are only replacing the cluster nodes for the database servers. This should have been an easy upgrade tbh. Having worked with clusters since 1998 I can however understand the inevitable delays of unforseen circumstances.

But hey being in GMT this makes no odds to me - I'l be sleeping like a baby

I'm in PST, so it is going to be down for me during my evening after work. Oh well. Mr. Murphy reared his head. Good thing I set a long skill training -- Gallente Industrial IV.

They are also "downgrading" to SQL Server 2005. It's most frustrating. They have the best MMO and yet are complete Microsoft sycophants that choose to use inferior products in order to keep their little banner ad on the DirectX webpage.

Well it looks like the down time has been extended due to extreme delays
    That doesnt sound very good.

This does suck. Thursday and Friday are my weekend.

I know I am bored, I watched the news.

Now I want to get back to something a little closer to reality so get the server fixed, eh?

LOL, in a way. On the other hand, Eve requires a patient player so if you can weather a hardware upgrade with elements of wait time you may like Eve style

Not to mention you will also begin to appreciate what CCP's doing if you can weather this upgrade.

Deffinately _not_ the wrong day.  Welcome to EVE!!  Look forward to exchanging fire or trading goods once the server is up. ;)

I don't think they would do anything to make the game run worse.  "Downgrading" it may be... but it'll probably run better.  Maybe the OS they were using before didn't like Intel Dual Core x64bits... who knows.  Either way, the server and nodes should be running better.  Should being the key word... cause... I know computers... I know Murphy's Law HATES computers!

We can agree to disagree, or we can bicker constantly... either way, I'm right.
