Given the size, scope, and technical makeup of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, we have decided to split our review into two parts. Part 1 (this one) will primarily focus on the technical stability, the quality of the port, discussion on graphics settings, and comparisons to the Xbox One X version. Part 2 will focus on, well, everything else from the mechanics, story, and online. With that said, we present to you our Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Review: Part 1 – PC Port Analysis.

I've only had one CTD in about 20 hours of gameplay caused from switching mouse input types. But that is my main gripe with RDR2. The mouse controls are atrocious. Horrible. It's almost as bad as using a controller. I bet I've spent at least an hour of that 20 total just trying to find a sweet spot for mouse aiming. Still sour. Thank god for Dead-Eye. I've tried all the tips posted online and it's still janky.
Patiently waiting on a patch. Luckily I still have The Outer Worlds and Destiny 2 to play while I'm waiting (and it will probably be awhile).
Bartoni's Law definition: As an Internet discussion grows volatile, the probability of a comparison involving Donald Trump approaches 1.
Although it should be noted how there are almost no FPS drops (outside of 1-2 minute long glitches with 100% CPU cores load happening once per 10 hours).

Characters are mediocre at best - screens with the faces look like they are taken in games released a decade ago (just compare them to the characters from the recent games such as AC Odyssey, GR Breakpoint, Anthem, Lost Ark, Control, The Surge 2, Gears 5, etc). Although it's fine for people who have "beauty blindness" (if you didn't notice ugly people are getting children too - because substantial part of population simply unable to tell if a person is ugly or not?)
TL;DR there are some glitches and bugs but it's a lot of fun and a must have game nonetheless.
Thank you for your time!

I've found a solution that removes this problem 80-90% of the time.
I do 2 things.
1st, I use msi afterburner to cap my FPS to 45. Is this the best number? iunno
2nd, I'm using that thing called "Process Lasso" to limit the cpu usage on RDR2.exe. Tip guide found here >> https://www.reddit.com/r/PCRedDead/comments/ds3kk4/stutter_freeze_temporal_fix_red_dead_redemption_2/
Except I'm doing it with:
When cpu use is: 90%
Reduce cpu cores: 1
For a period of: 2 seconds
It kind of works. Not 100%, but 90% of my freezes are gone when I play online. I restarted single player and played for an hr or two, 0 freezes.
FIX YO GAME NAO ROKSTA!!
I’d love to do more analysis with mid range hardware, but access to this hardware isn’t always easy. I only have the one PC (mine) so I can only test on that unfortunately. Glad you found the article helpful!
Spikes fixed for me when I only use two cores.
