During the keynote at ExileCon 2019 in New Zealand, Grinding Gear Games dropped a bombshell, revealing Path of Exile 2. The new campaign will be supported alongside the original Path of Exile, and players worried that the expansions and updates that have made Path great will be lost with PoE 2 can rest assured - those will all be carried over to the new version when it launches.

I hope the RTS genre sees the same kind of resurgence as the A-Rpg one we are witnessing.

I'll be sure to ask the question today! It does look like potentially new rendering techniques at least!
Im not saying its not nice to get new stuff but if its the same engine etc etc then why bother making the distinction of a 2nd game and just add it to the first! didnt they add new acts to the campaign before like 2 new acts or more?
To me the 2nd game is for a fresh campaign and "new class" well class is broad in PoE because u essentially pick ur starting position on that grid with your "class" but u can diverge into anything... it would be a smarter move for a "2nd" game to just have a char creation tool (if needed) and let u pick ur starting place on the upgrade grid
Thing is the only reasons i dont like PoE is the item grind for upgrading consumables it totally turned me off when i first played i hated that grind! if PoE2 has a different economy and upgrade path i more than happily test it out but if its exactly the same then i wont PoE 2 will most likely use everything made in PoE and just skin it with a new campaign and "new classes"
it's a side story in 7 acts that you can chose to do to reach maps instead of the normal 10 acts story.
every updates will work for both poe and poe 2. i assume it's gonna be like overwatch with ow2.
they are not scrapping the original campaign with the release of poe 2 and it will kinda work like 'poe classic' i assume.
it's easier to market poe 2 than poe 4.0 when your game has a brand new engine and a complete rework of how skill gems work.
trailer :
4.0 GHZ CPU Geforce 1060 TI , 8 gigs ram ect ect Guess im just the Unlucky person then =( game wouldnt even run last time i tried it when they did that patch><><><
i havnt tried to install the game again since that patch , so maybe they fixed the problems<><><
><><Really i was just left with a sour taste in my mouth after that patch,,,,Brutal
its not a brand new engine tho its the same one as poe! the livestreme says its just more refined in that demo of PoE4.0/PoE 2. but most likely that type of refine ment will also make its way to poe1!
Not saying it's bad. But ALL they need is improved animations. That's it.
If PoE had D3 smooth animations, no other game could match it.
Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy?
Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!
Nah, it's just they were unable to squeeze new/better character models into existing engine and it was faster to re-create existing campaign in the (somewhat) new engine with new characters (which looks really good btw).
Thank you for your time!
Developing two live games in the same franchise and supporting both simultaneously is literally competing with yourself.
TBH they probs had nothing that could compete with the D4 reveal so they made this shenanigan up to try an get some attention.
I bet they only mentioned shapeshifting probs because they saw druid in D4 gameplay!
This 2nd game is purely for milking money via offering story content and probably exclusive microtransactions u can only get in PoE 2 and because the class system in PoE is stupid a new class is ambiguous to hell because of the passive skill tree in poe all class does is give u a different starting point there but u can build how u want!. it would of been easier to rip out the class based system and make a char creation tool and you get to pick the point you wish to start on the grid and add new nodes/starting points as time progresses.
to everyone here its not a new engine stop saying that its just a more refined version of what they have now and ill bet that those visual refinements make its way to PoE1 too
It's both, technically. It's one game, two separate campaigns. I'm working on a more thorough article as they will be doing the deep dive later today. But it's the same launcher, you'll just choose what campaign you want to play.
They are adding a new game worth of content, hell, more then the original game if you want to get technical. (The original game had 3 acts when it came out iirc) Not only that, you can still play with all the content from the first game and not lose any MTX or progression (if you play standard). I would say it is the best of both worlds. We get the amount of content of a sequel without any downsides. They aren't even charging for the sequel.
