The entire premise of the game is like a 3rd grade brainstorm session. The only thing worse than the premise the devs came up with is the panting fanboys/girls who seem to think the game is going to feature planetary travel and more. Every complaint about the "stupid" premise of a giant ship of crime fighting heroes is met by rabid defenses like, "But that means the devs can make planets and we can travel to them, and... and..."

The premise is bad, the graphics are laughably bad, the animations are even worse. This isn't a spiritual successor to City of Heroes. It's an ongoing art project without the benefit of level headed adults in the room.

Confidence as far as release? Sure.

My issue is a pretty minor one but it is something that bugs me

The character graphics look like they fell off an ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

Confidence in the belief that it will release.

And confidence that I will enjoy it.

Whether everyone else will enjoy it, dunno.

The name is dumb, but I'm kinda rooting for them even though it may barely launch. I mean they are moving faster the Star Citizen ever did.

The spaceship premise is a head-scratcher, unless it's an attempt to give a wide berth to copyright issues or something like that, but I think in practice something like that won't matter.

You get to make a unique hero with crazy powers and go around subduing bad guys. Giving that just the right feel will depend, I suspect, on more subtle things than the background story and imaginative environment. I'm still trying to figure out why Champions Online doesn't satisfy me. As in music or the "uncanny valley" in android robotics, being close but a little off can be worse than missing by a mile.

I may not agree with everything you said but I do think its silly that people think we will be visiting other planets. That would cost so much money and this is a indie team. At best future issues (or whatever they are called) will just access more of the ship

My understanding is that the ship can get raided by aliens from other ships/planets, that's about it so far. The proof is in the pudding made at launch, we will see then.

Compared to the five (?) KS MMOs the site features it is doing remarkably well without needing fans to be buying ships/land and the like all the time to keep the development afloat.

All those people saying that the graphics don't look as good as CoH did at shutdown really don't have any credibility. My desktop background is a slideshow of old screenshots from CoH and they definitely look dated when compared to the shots of SoH. Yes, the colors are a bit off and the UI looks a bit odd by comparison but overall Ship of Heroes does have better graphics and things can only get better with time.

I'm willing to try new games, such as SoH, even if I have to force myself to do it, and that's not even an issue to complain about. Why? Because when I was really down and going through withdrawal after CoH shut down my friend told me to play GTA 4. I really didn't want to but I forced myself to try it and I'll be damned if I wasn't hooked by the end of the next day. It didn't fill the void left by CoH but it was one hell of a good distraction and I had a great time playing it over the next year.

Sometimes it's good to try new things, even if we have to force ourselves to do it, because if we don't we may not know what we're missing.

I've got a feevah, and the only prescription... is more cowbell.
