Hey, im comming back to EQ for the progression server anyway I hear its going to be the original content in their old datasets most zones that is but use the "current EQ mechanics" now my question is whats new? Has the lvls gotten easiers? Is there still lvl loss/exp loss with CR? Is EQ still dependable on groups or is it easier to solo now? if anyone could help that would be great thanks.

i cant tell you what to do, but i can offer my 2 cents, SoE is not worth it, refering to just about any game made by them
Human Commando-Breakdown lvl 16
Lvl 7 Engineer (Kick arse Fun)
Auto Assault
World of Warcraft
Return To Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
Leveling, is it easier? Depends on when you left. The "hell" levels have been smoothed out, this means that certain levels are easier to get than they used to be and that deaths at these levels are easier on the player to recover from, than they used to be.
Also, with the new content comes new gear. New gear makes old content easier and easier to master (which is why Naggy/Vox was level locked in the first place), so depending on what SoE has unlocked and when, as the game progresses, gear will matter.
Oh, and yes, you loss exp when you die. After level 10, you still have to do a CR unless you have a "veteran" ability to summon your corpse OR if the guild lobby is available (which it shouldn't be, at first) you can do a lobby summons...
Solo'ing is no easier now than it has ever been in the past - with the exception of gear related event/locations. The game is and has always been designed to require groups to advance through content. But as always, if your carefull, patient, and pick the right target, yes, you can solo.

My dog barks some. Mentally you picture my dog, but I have not told you the type of dog which I have. Perhaps you even picture Toto, from "The Wizard of Oz." But I warn you, my dog is always with me.

Thanks for the info very helpful I left right at the luclin expansion and im definitly going to try this progression server it will be fun to go through the old content again and the smaller the world the tighter the community wil be hopfully and other great aspects like no bazaar type trading and old travel again
Indeed it will be nice to be playing the old content again. I always enjoyed being with the "curve" I suppose you could say. I quit EQ shortly after PoP and haven't come back because after several years, I felt that I've fallen behind. Besides which, I really want to adventure the old content again and see it actually populated. Can't wait for June!

Old EQ mele lowbies had a very tough time with 6 to 9 dmg weapons, the 10 and 12 dmg weapons looted off lvl 40 and 50 monsters; whereas $oE intends to leave in, the modern upgraded caster dd, aoe and dot spells (100 to 200dmg @ lvl 10) !!
That means besides the many misses mele will be doing 5 to 15 dmg swings, while casters are doing 100 and 200 dmg nukes. Thankfully w/o the many modern intel/wisdom items those casters will ususlly be oom and meding.
atm people are bickering about 20 to 30 ac nooby armor sets. And unless the old EQ monsters are adjusted to realistic old EQ combat, there will be HUGE #s of mele corpses, wiz always had huge #s of corpses, so not much will change there!
Many will be searching the old EQ Quests for weapon and armory upgrade advantages, and tradeskills as alternatives to camping single boss mobs for what used to be class defining loot in old EQ. Things will become serious when people realize this will not be Paudal where a single kill got you 3 or 4 blue bbls exp ! And how people had to hoard even cp to bank up to pp. Many may think twice about destroying 1500cp for the excess wt vs banking it into 15gp.
All and all, EQ is about the fun, The Combine server will bring some of that back, while EVERYBODY will be noting when the Next expansion opens and Who managed to open it. Only wonder how a single server will manage the 20 to 50,000 that will likely be there. ? 5000s lowby in each nooby zone: qeynos, mysty thicket, feerrott, ec, bbm, sfm and felwith; those zones usually crashed when only 300 were there. The EQ servers did and will always crash constantly when +3000 TOTAL are on a single server. No way a single "progression" server can hold all the EQ AND EQ2 AND swg AND resubscribing fed-up-with $oE populations this June... untill the Vanguard: Saga of Heroes $oE servers show up this November.
One of the reasons $oe had to go to instancing was their inability to code and adjust bandwidth for large groups massing for boss (end-game) encounters. AND $oE certainly has neglected upgrading server structures to overcome those forgotten problems.
