Though I loved The Outer Worlds and Obsidian is god tier IMO, I have to go with Death Stranding. Such a fantastic game and the best video game experience I had all year. Unmatched in just about everyway
Agreed. TOW is great but it didn't do anything new. Which is what I wanted in TOW, more open world RPG goodness. Death Stranding for me was a masterpiece. I actually pity the people memeing about "fedex simulator" etc. They're missing out on an experience few games will ever provide.

But what do you do? I thought it was horror game, but it looks like a loneliness simulator.
Disco Elysium is the real deal IMO, it really puts into perspective how mediocre Outer Worlds is.
You are like pathologically incapable of "not shitting" on things. You're like that Conan dog that keeps saying . . . ."blah blah blah for me to poop on"
I may check out death stranding but I can't really play single player games much these days.

Saying Outer world is mediocre is not pooping on things though, have we gotten that soft?
Ita a safe and predictable game.
I guess you haven't played Disco Elysium yet
problem with outer worlds is it fall flat after the start, the game could be more but was lacking, the game was good but for a game of the year deal? sorry but no, on that list, sekiro get the deal for me

Outer Worlds or Metro Exodus for me. I prefer Metro Exodus because it gave me feels just like Witcher 3 did. Made me care for npc's because they were well made same as the story.
The Outer Wolds was nice. But something felt is missing there. But still a great game.
TGA completely forgot Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night exist and are better candidates than many on this year's list.
I guess i wasn't wrong to believe TGA is just for entertainment and not to be taken seriously.
Three Houses is nominated for best strategy game (which, yes, it easily deserves).
But it really is deserving of nominations for Game of the Year, best RPG (KH3 and MHW aren't even RPGs, god damnit!), and best music. It is such an amazing title.
Perhaps even Games for Impact if one were to look at its treatment of mental illness/disorders through multiple main characters.
Edelgard (trauma), Dmitri (PTSD), Bernadetta (parental abuse), Marianne (suicidal depression), and Linhardt (ADHD and probable narcolepsy).
Looks like Best MMORPG is yet again a scratch for 2019.
Not only that, the entire list is a pretty clear sign -to me, at least- how much I'm out of the "current gaming" loop...
I mean, a game award, with categories like best esport host, and coach? streamer of the year? and fresh indie by Subway, really?
Hell, one for best performance, looks like Cage's infection is spreading and interactive movies are now games as well... thought I'm sure Norman will get that, it's the least he deserves after what he had to endure during the shooting of Reedus and fetus.
As for the real categories, I'm with @cheyane, for me almost none of the candidates were interesting enough to give them a try, except TOW since I'm an old Obsidian fan. And TOW was... ok. Not awesome, but ok. Which in the current quality of gaming could easily get them a game of the year title.
Disco Elysium looks interesting, but I guess I'll just wait for the first sale drop.
It was a bit weird to see there's no MMORPG category, but still FF XIV is on the list of best RPGs? How so, due to the expansion, or they couldn't find a 5th RPG from 2019?
When I look at the games on the game of the year list all that comes to mind is a weak year in games. I'm not saying there aren't any good games, but nothing that struck me as game of the year material.
Of the list of six, I played The outer worlds, Control, and I'm currently playing Death Stranding. I will say I enjoyed Control the most. I haven't finished DS, but I struggle to even login to the game and I love those type of games.
I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.
I voted, but last years was so much easier to choose as it had clear winners with God of War and Spiderman and Red Dead 2. This year, for me, it's a toss up between Outer Worlds, Disco Elysium, Kingdom Hearts 3 and Death Stranding. I haven't played Control yet, heck haven't even heard anything about it once it launched, so I thought it didn't do well. Maybe I'll pick up a physical copy on sale this BF, if it sucks I can still trade it in and get some value back. Overall though, all of these games for me were at best 9/10s or lower.
Also...no true MMORPG to vote on, I just don't enjoy FFXIV anymore or D2 to justify voting for them. Really wish Pantheon was out now, sigh.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'
