It's so sad that there's so much negativity towards people who are actually doing something worthwhile in the gaming world. We get the same games every year and we throw our cash away time after time, not to mention the times we get ripped off in marketing schemes and tricks they use. And apart from getting ripped off occasionally that's not necessarily a bad thing, we'll have some fun then we move on to the next title. But it's always the same thing. Rarely do we get something really special or unique games.
These guys are taking it to the next level. It's simply a fact. They're doing things other game designers probably would have loved to do but just simply couldn't. It just doesn't exist in other games. And you can even see it in today's alpha. Most of the fundamentals that sets this game apart are already in.

I'm not sure about the money thing, I'm just saying this game is very ambitious and needed in our time.
It's really strange people don't at least like give it the benefit of the doubt, sit back and hope it turns out well. Cause in the end we all win.
That sort of people don't care about the game, they just care about the money it has funded (what attracts all this attention in the first place) and its dev time, including some controversies, for those, you usually don't hear them say a word about the game, it's not about the game at all. It's cool to hate SC.

But many people recognize the potential, the progress and the need for a game like this on the MMO genre, you won't really find those here because of the amount of SC drama pushed on this forum has polarized things too much and reasonable discussions are almost impossible (several posts on this thread show it).
How can you not care about the game though is what I don't understand. lol
We're all gamers looking for the next best thing. It's the reason people care enough to voice that negativity in the first place.
I just gave it a serious look last free fly which was a few weeks ago. I waited so long cause I stopped caring about prereleases a long time ago I think I'm not the only one.
I never had any strong opinions about the game before I took a look at it.

It's an internet gaming site, people love drama about games they don't play or want to play, crowdfunded games are a hot spot as far that goes. I'd say most people like you are more lurkers not really engaged in the actual discussion.

It's why the "it's a scam ree" type of comment every time, even on a topic where the game opens up for anyone to go there and play what is released and make their own conclusions (something almost no titles in dev where you pay to gain access does), whelp...

I will pick this up on steam sale for $9.99 in about 10 years, i don't have the words to express how much of a shit stain scam this is. KS in 2012, 7 years after kickstarter and 300M cash they have a couple planets and free fly by events to see their tech demo. Forbes is a trusted source, claimed as of a couple years ago they had something like 14M cash left in the bank, spent most of their funds and zero to show for it. Shame on you guys supporting this scam, a sad time period to be a mmo gamer. Wake the hell up and stop supporting these scams.

    Link to article here:

But most of the money is gone, and the game is still far from finished. At the end of 2017, for example, Roberts was down to just $14 million in the bank. He has since raised more money. Those 100 star systems? He has not completed a single one. So far he has two mostly finished planets, nine moons and an asteroid.
...and some caves with alien poop
Much ambitious.  How would you rate this "scope" from 1 to 10?

Who even wants to play a game, where other players have all bought their ships with real life currency. And a lot of it. I say ALL because I sincerely doubt anyone will play this game other than the backers. Also, why do backers even want to play a game like that? Lol.

Seriously, you are going to sign into the game and be spammed with loot that you wont even know what to do with. The entire purpose of the game is lost due to the fact that anything and everything was already given away for real currency.

Have fun playing a game by yourself backers! While you are all flying around the same reward ships, wondering where everything went so wrong.

Outside of uploading a mind to the cloud - I don't believe people currently active on this site will be able to live long enough to see SC released. And I bet substantial part of the backers are already dead considering SC is in development for about 1/10 of human life span.

For those that own it already, I hope they get enjoyment out of SC. For those trying it out when it is free to play I hope it works & they enjoy it too. I have tried it once before during one of these free to play mini events & it was just too buggy for my liking. I might try it again at a later date during a free to play mini event if I'm so inclined, but I won't be buying this game till after it has released for awhile. Unfortunately I'm that way with most games nowadays. Gaming companies nowadays seem to have no problem releasing a game based off of their previous reputation &/or the game's hype & squander that trust for short term money, & this gaming company does seem to have a couple of questionable financial maneuvers. So I still hope for the best for SC, it's been a long incubation, but I want a game of quality delivered first before you get my money.

    Major update my fucking ass.

Patches are just anaemic crap, look at 3.8 for a perfect example of CIG's delivery. They cut out all the good stuff and we're left with a pile of fluff. How can anyone objectively call that "major"?

People on this site will preach SC is a success even after 20 years of being an alpha, it's a delusion.

Considering the pools and some data people gathered as far Backer age goes, 94%~ of backer base is under 40, more than half around 20-35.

So I'd say we'll be fine unless on this forum people are much older, what would remind me of that "angry old man yelling at cloud (empirium games)". :p

But feel free to buy Anthem.. or wait until EA reworked it from ground as it tooks a year to recognize they should have not released it at all... but still sold it at 60$ (40% more than SC) because they are used to slap gamer community left and right since more than a decade without consequences.

Meanwhile a unique project heading to beta in 4 quarters, offering to anyone 2 full weeks of free access to check by themselves how it is progressing is called scam by some uneducated individual about game development and finance.

Comment section always gathered the best of internet, this is confirmed:)

It's one thing to claim people on this forum are just blind bashers of the game, but then you read about the former employees of the company and what they have to say about wasted funds and the micromanaging of EVERYTHING by Roberts.  After all these years and the broken promises, the people who keep on white knighting and pouring money into the project are just as bad as the blind haters.

tl;dr:  Both sides are equally crazy.

You either hate the game for the scam it has been. or you are one of those  people who defend this turd with every fiber of their being.  All SC discussions end up like this.  Personally, i refunded when I could, took three weeks of back and forth email, but I got my money back.  I also tried to give it a second shot with the last "free fly" weekend they did.  The game was just as buggy this time around as it was when I refunded.  But hey, it's all about peoples opinions, i guess if they are having fun playing this and throwing money at concept ships, who am I to tell them not to?

I like SC and i dont care what moaners are saying :)
Ive bought it for ~35.-€ 5 years ago and subscribed for 10.-€ couple months until now and i have my own eyes to see what they do, no matter what some of you may say^^

Im a Linux gamer and the Linux Users Group @CIG is close to 1k members.
That is, because we keep the game going under wine and its working like a charm.

Due to that, we have some insight into the games tech and changes to the games core, but from a gamers perspective its just not done yet.
I can understand, that the normal gamers are upset about the game is not done yet, but thats reality, at least someone has the balls to try out, what no other developers tried out yet.

We want the new "new", or not ?
I mean, how can we have new technologies if nobody is doing them ?!
Here we have a company doing them and the whole gaming world will benefit from ideas and technics researched by RSI.

From a customers point of view, i could send a couple companies to hell, but the StarCitizen support was always superb, same level like the EvE-Support.

Cya in the verse, to kill ya all :D
