I don't see why not. Makes perfect sense from a business perspective. In fact as long as people don't lose progress everyone I know who plays on Ps4 would make the jump. Shorter load times, better frames, etc.
PC's good enough for me. No need for me to upgrade to a PS5 for FFXIV.. Now if they announced DQ X would finally be coming to the US but only for PS5, then I would likely make the jump... but not for FF.
I think the real problem is that lets say you want to play on PS5 later down the line when you're currently on PS4. They do offer a free upgrade period but after that you'd have to buy the game again for the PS5 (I think that's what happened to PS3 owners when PS4 version was added).
In short: PC is master race unless you play through steam (dont get FFXIV via steam, its a huge hassle most of the time).

a friend of mine do play ff14 though steam, its cheaper for us plus it auto convert to our currency, and from what I could guess you could link the old ff14 account on steam,
I think it is a good idea to bring in more console players to the game. When I played FFXI we had console players too and it was surprisingly a good experience except that they had a limited vocabulary as most didn't have a keyboard attached but such problems will no longer be an issue.

Wouldnt it be a downgrade?
From PC sure, but we have a PS4 as well, so upgrade from PS4.

That's fine if you like dealing with steam. The problem goes down to external promotions and other stuff. For example, you can only link expansions bought exclusively from steam since SE gives them a specific code, so you cant buy from like GMG/Amazon when you catch a deal then link it to steam. The official forums has a slew of thread talking about steam associated accounts.
They need to do a bit of a graphical update for this game. It totally deserves one.
I see this parroted around the net. I don’t get it though. Why? Playing at all max settings at 1440p it looks great. What other MMORPG Or other game are people comparing it to that make it seems graphically outdated?

Backwards compatible sure, but unoptimized for new hardware that would bring it closer in line with the PC.

I would love to see a graphical upgrade, but honestly FFXIV already looks really good.
Black Desert, probably.
