Niffelheim is an engaging and fun survival game in a deep Norse setting. This game leaves you to figure things out on your own and doesn’t hand anything over on a silver platter. Although the combat itself is simple, the rest of the game is multilayered and offers a unique blend of challenges. This is a game for anyone who enjoys pure survival games and Norse mythology.

    "Engaging and fun survival game."

I'm seeing an oxymoron in there somewhere. Can't quite put my finger on it.

Is this another open-world PvP survival game?

Survival has grown on me and I think the genre has a ton of potential. Crafting, building, and creativity are the biggest draws for me right now. Overall, combat needs a ton of work. The genre should not let itself be defined or stereotyped to a 2-button trope in my opinion, just like many games have broken the "tree punching" crafting model model (for example). The core designs marry well with many other genres with a lot of potential for interesting hybrids.
I will say that Breath of the Wild shows that there is a lot of potential for survival due to:

    More traditionally satisfying, polished combat.

    Lack of babysitting meters

Food designed as a gameplay buffing and healing system rather than meter management.

Cooking/crafting being a minigame in its own right.

Actually having a hand-crafted world to explore and designed content to tackle rather than just more procedurally-generated gutter trash.

Ummm. looked at the video. IT'S A ONE-DIMENSIONAL SIDE-SCROLLER. Might have lead with that.

It's 2D side scrolling. If it was one dimensional it'd be a line.

True, technically, since you can go up a bit or sometimes down into caverns (which also run straight left-right), but it looks like most of the time you're just going back and forth. It's not like those old side-scrolling coin-op games where you could freely fly up and down (well, at least to the top and bottom of the screen).  Or like ortho-view, which may technically be 3D but you're essentially constrained to two dimensions of movement -- but can usually move in either of them at any time.

All the battle scenes here, as I recall, had everyone on the same level. Even having a level above and below (or several levels with restricted access) provides little variation from the one-dimensional feel of the gameplay.
