The steam sales of it were worse than I was expecting (15k online first day? Weak for a game this size). I'm actually pretty sure the Rockstar version sold pretty decently, most of the people I know who were interested just bought it through that, including Steam Diehard friends. Not sure how it worked for other people but it was weird to see friends who would never touch another storefront buying it from the rockstar launcher.

I think most people who will pick it up through steam will wait for a sale, after all have you waited this long you can wait a bit longer for a good deal. =P

It does turn in to a bit of a marketing problem tho. But i guess getting 100% of the revenue offset that =P

I wait until a couple of months after launch, it is surprising how few issues I ever get in anything I play. ;)

If there is a launcher that should be hated more than the Epic launcher is the Rockstar launcher. They have been enforcing it since the Max Payne 3 days and it still sucks today. But since Rockstar doesn't release many games it kind of went off the radar for a long time. The rot is starting to show.

What a bust I was waiting for the steam version too.

Its time we Hightail it out of here.

It wasn't on the Steam Sale, so I wasn't interested.  Another 4-6 months won't make much of a difference to me personally.

I pretty much wont buy any game unless it is on sale. Hell, i buy nothing in video games unless it is on sale.

I was waiting for Steam but grabbed it through GMG.   I figured if they didn't list a price it would be $79 CDN.  I got it for $64 and it runs great.  I don't care about the discount so much but I was bothered by Steam not listing the price until the others sales were over.  I have had zero issues running it.  I actually am a little disappointed with the game though. . which surprised me.

I know that there were major issues at launch that they patched. . maybe the Steam version needs that as well.  I don't mind the Rockstar launcher. . I have a shortcut on task bar. . it just launches the game. . not a lot of trouble.

maybe 30% of my steam games launch...only a idiot would purchase a game on this broken platform
Maybe 5% of my Steam Games won't launch, and those games generally were made for much much older systems, like Fallout 3, which won't launch without a few file tweaks and configuring the application to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

If only 30% of your games launch, then I think you've got a real bad PC issue and not a steam issue.

I mean, this is also 15 years of professional IT experience talking too.  A 70% failure rate is extremely excessive for any product.  If this was the standard, then almost no one would use Steam.

somewhat doesn't surprise me, if the average pc gamer is anything like me, the entire reason i switched to pc gaming was to save money on games, spending retail on digital games is something i VERY rarely do.

Hopefully studios will stop with exclusive bullcrap. Could just as likely go the other way I suppose.

Runs fine on Epic. I have been playing 1 week after it release on PC via Epic Launcher and had no issues.

What could be having a negative impact on the sales be it ever so small as it may be is that a lot of people did not like the way Steam totally changed their game launcher which uses a bit more pc resources and is not as stable as the old one. So maybe people are boycotting it because of the launcher issues. Steam has disabled the down vote button on the New Steam Library announcement page as well.

That's funny. . I just upgraded my PC and then realized how cheap digital copies of games were during sales. Crazy. :) I agree though. . steam sales, Humble Bundle etc. are great.

If anything Steam reviews should be ignored: the social network accumulated the most infantile auditory out of generally stupid and infantile PC gaming auditory. And they can easily make their stupid and infantile opinions public.

Like, for example, Monster Hunter World got 50% rating due to temporary connection issues at the start (which are practically mandatory for any half-decent always-online game). At the same time exceptionally boring point-and-click Resident Evil 2 Remaster is getting 95%+ rating.

RDR2/Online certainly isn't terribly good, yet it's for sure much better than current "mixed" rating formed by people with 1050 cards - or i5 processors used with 2080 cards to get 4k resolution. There should be at least review filter to separate connection/hardware "reviews" from stupid reviews ('bad game" - 80+ hours played) from actually decent reviews with some merit ("animations 8/10, bugs 7/10, story 9/10" etc.).

What surprises me the most is how demanding it is.
Running it with an overclocked i7 7700k, 16gb 3000mhz ram and a RTX 2080 Super OC, and still i fall short a constant 60 fps with Ultra settings at 1440p. Bumping it down to High does wonders, but then the second "issue" with the PC version presents itself. You absolutely need to use TAA, or you'll face "shimmergate", which basically makes the game unbearable. But TAA turns the game rather blurry.

All in all, the Xbox One X version looks superior to the PC version, Microsoft nailed the anti aliasing
