Phoenix Point, like Xcom ?

Last night I found this game out of know ware.  It's a flushed out tactical game like Xcom but supposedly more so where you aim at body parts and other advantages that you don't see with Xcom itself.

It seems to be low keyed because it's only available on Epic for $39.95, but it's made by Xcom Developers.  It only released two days ago and it has some problems but looks VERY COOL !.....Some say wait, some say it's OK enough now.

Only a few reviews and their not very good ones... what do you think ?

I've done more research throughout yesterday and came up with a conclusion. This game is completely playable however it's missing key aspects that were expected and will be added later.

It's the only gripe by players at this point...... The fans are not hyping this game because of this, and it's expected to release on Steam when more key features are added.

Popular opinion is to wait several months.

I've been watching Twitch streams (CharliePryor and CohhCarnage). It is like, yet unlike XCom. The developers did create the first XCom games, way back when, so they know what they're doing in that department (turn based tactical combat).

There are bugs, for sure. One is firing from behind cover. Sometimes your soldier leans out and you have a shot. Other times (most of the time, it seems) they don't and you see a huge wall or whatever through your scope.

It does have an interesting 3 faction world with an interesting story (so far as I've seen). The soldier loadouts are more complex than XCom's, with armor separated for Legs, Body, and Arms, along with Helmets.

So far, I've heard more "wait on fixes before buying" than get it now advice. Since I'm not an Epic Game Store customer, I hope it's all fixed by the time it becomes available to someone like me :)

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

    Agree,
I haven't watched streams but instead Youtubes, more reviews are popping up and EVERYONE is saying the same thing "wait".  It's like they know exactly how to make a game and know exactly whats wrong and released it anyway.

This is the first I've known about the aiming bug but I totally believe it.  The bug I've seen was loot boxes often spawn right next to monster spawns and get destroyed quickly with no chance of ever retrieving them.  What I've seen is missing complex boss fights that are to be added, which is the core of the game.

Usually a game like this where they say wait, I usually buy anyway.... But in this case, it sounds like a must wait !!!

As of last night after playing 15 episodes someone asked Cohharnage how's the game so far, his response was:

"It has its issues but but overall it's a lot of fun so far.  After 7 or 8 hours I haven't even scratched the serfice and haven't even joined a faction".

This is the first out of combat footage I watched,
The world, diplomacy, base management and equipment loadout of squads are way more complex than XCom games...... It's so deep after 15 episodes his fans are still helping him out... He usually has a game figured out by now.  I think I like that !

New revelation, It seems it's not a penalty if you aim at a body part such as an arm or leg because you still do overall damage AND cripple them depending on the part..... I don't think this has been done in any other game with this mechanic.

Now I'm back on the fence of buying it now...

I’m interested, but am definitely going to wait until the game is ready. Which may be half a year or more, if ever.

I Kickstarted this game but I will have to agree with those that say wait to buy. It's not quite fleshed out yet but has a great foundation to build upon.

I think it isn't on Steam for the same reason it wasn't on XBox and  Gamepass.

I just read an article that said it was going to launch on gamepass as well but they didn't do their homework on how to get it set up for the windows store etc.  Something like that.  They expected that to be sorted in a few days.

I would expect to see it around more places soon.  It sounds good to me but I will give this one more time to ripen.

Game developers have run out of ideas to make quality games ,so we end up with lots of these small low cost games on the market.I have already played games like this and this one is not doing anything great, not graphics wise, not combat, just ho hum.
I just recently purchased two games that were ho hum and after i felt like wtf,why did i just waste my money foolishly.

So no,i need to see a REALLY good game not just another copy cat ho hum game. The simple of it is that i am not bored,i have tons and tons of games to play, shelves of movies to watch,i have endless amounts of time wasting ideas already,i don't NEED to buy any mid range game for any reason.

I need to see AAA games and that is about it.
