Can't wait for the more powerful version in a couple years called the Xbox x box of x series xxx Xbox.
My wife was confused because I have an Xbox One X and I was freaking out about them unveiling the new xbox. She thought I already had. She thought it was an ad for the Xbox One X. I had to explain that Xbox Series X was the new console and I realized just how stupid that name was
Who knew they could come up with a name as dumb and as confusing as Xbox One, its almost like someone over there is intentionally sabotaging them.

The Xbox has always been a very good console, plagued with bad names and a less than optimal advertising dept.
The world is going to the dogs, which is just how I planned it!

Yeah I hope its not a second Wii U debacle where people are confused.
There's going to be a simple way to avoid confusion: buy a PlayStation 5.

I always buy all consoles generally, but I was most disappointed with the PS4Pro. I think it was a waste.
I have a cousin who lives in CA who is working at the game awards doing grunt work. He said he saw the new Xbox and described to me. I thought he was lying to me. Guess not. Looks really cool. Def be getting one. With it looking more like a computer I wouldn't be surprised if rumors were also true that its going to be 4x the power of an Xbox One X
I would bet against it offering 4x the GPU performance of an Xbox One X. Maybe 4x that of the Xbox One non-X. But 4x the GPU performance of an Xbox One X would be faster than any GPU ever made today, though that likely won't still be the case a year from now. Regardless, if they go that high on performance, you're not going to like the price tag.
Offering 4x the CPU performance is a lot more plausible. 8x Zen 2 cores clocked fairly low to save power could do that in about 80 mm^2 and 35 W.
Honestly, I feel Microsoft is gonna blow Sony out of the water this generation simply due to the gamepass. They have the console platform for those types while also accessing the pc pool. Its just sad that it took them this long to realize that they are Microsoft....makers of Windows.....the most widely used PC OS.....

It's easier to greatly improve on your previous product when your previous product was terrible. Microsoft botched the hardware specs on the Xbox One, so making an Xbox One X that was basically a beefier PS4 offered a way to hugely improve on their previous hardware. Sony got the hardware specs right on the PS4, which offered less room for improvement.
Sony took a big risk with the PS4 in using GDDR5 for system memory. At least one memory vendor offered higher density 4 Gb GDDR5 chips at the last moment, and just barely in time for the PS4 launch. If that hadn't happened, Sony would have been faced with a choice between the PS4 having only 4 GB of memory or delaying the PS4 entirely, potentially by several months. That would have made that generation of console wars play out very differently. But because their gamble paid off, Sony was able to offer much higher performance than Microsoft, and at a lower cost of production.
The harsh capacity limits of GDDR* memory standards won't be a problem for this next generation. The same 256-bit memory bus width that the Xbox One and PS4 both used could today get you 32 GB of GDDR6. There's no question of that being technically feasible; the only real question is what the console builders are willing to pay. 16 GB would be a lot cheaper than 32 GB.
The new Xbox and PS5 sound awesome, but we got a Switch and I'll probably pick up a second before I get another. I have a PS4 Pro so I'm pretty heavily invested in Sony, but the Switch is just so awesome.
Sorry Torval, but name me one good game on the Switch, I certainly have not found any and the attempts at putting a AAA title on them are a complete joke they run like snails.
You're not going to get high end graphics on a Switch. The hardware just can't handle it. But there have been plenty of good games that didn't offer graphics that were high end by today's standards.
Yeah with the new iterations every couple of years, it's tough jumping on the console bandwagon, but I bought a PS4 and I'm enjoying the exclusives.
There are about 8 games I want on the Switch, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. With all the money I just spent on Playstation sales I could've bought a Switch and a few games....oh well.
I'm just glad I don't need the latest greatest anymore!
I've always been a Nintendo/Sega/Playstation guy, and have avoided XBOX and I don't see that changing.
Let's go PS5! I wish it would be fully backwards compatible like the Gen 1 PS3...what a machine. It would be awesome to be able to play PS1-5 on 1 system.
So will the game box say Xbox X or Xbox Series on the top?
I think they'll have to say XBox Series X, and then include some kind of disclaimer "This product is not compatible with XBox One X" somewhere on the box.
It's like Microsoft is planning to gain advantage of parents who don't know that their kids XBox One X is not part of XBox series X by naming their new console XBox Series X. Someone who owns and plays the console isn't likely to get confused, but parents and others trying to buy gifts won't know that XBox series X doesn't exists and will make the mistake.
It doesn't matter how powerful it is compared to the Xbox one if devs make games that could run on the Xbox 1.They can market it all they want,it is the games that matter, not the console.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

They'll just insert an actual series in place of the word "series", so that it will say:
Xbox \sum_{x=1}^{\infty} {2 \over x(x+1)}
But gamers are wafting for a _X followed by the _XX, surely that's "next gen". Whatever they choose marketing will be happy as long as it is not: Poor PC like console, Somewhat better PC like console, Even more like a low end PC but we are making out it is still a console while charging more for the games and wanting you to pay for "services".
