Eve-online.com problem!

RilixRilix Member Posts: 21

Hello, as the Topic says, I can't get EVE-online.com to load up. I been trying for days now, I can't get into any part of the site, for some reason nothing happens when I try to go to it (as if it was a dead link, or non-existent). I really badly want to play this game too. The download mirror also doesn't load for me on the MMORPG.com's advertisement. Also I tryed going from the advertisments on there fansites, they also don't load.

I have no problems loading any other sites so I don't get this, am I alone here? Or is anyone else having this problem? Is there a way to fix it? This sucks..

I would greatly appreciate any help! Thanks in advance.

Ok well lets start with the basics and work our way down, have you tried clearing your browsers cache files/cookies and what not?
Oh and please state the browser you use and you IP

Yeah I've cleared the cookies and cache files already. I'm on DSL, the IP is some local company called GHV. This is weird I never had a problem like this before, unless it was a wrong URL or something.

    Hmmm ok.

    Are you on dial up?

I forgot to mention, after about 10-20 seconds it goes to a search page, like it does with invalid URL's and stuff.

Try going to the following IPs for the web page

    http://87.237.39.100/
    http://212.187.162.100/

If those don't work then the problem probably lies in the connection between you and the server, or you have some kind of filtering software blocking you.

You will need a trace route program to figure out what is happening to your data between the server and you. I really can't think of one off the top of my head.

What that means is there is a problem with you're DNS (a computer on the internet that turns URLs (the www.website.com things) into real internet addresses (the 123.45.67.89 things)). DNS's are ususally hosted by your ISP, but if you have problems, there are way around them.

The simplest method is to add an entry to your HOST file:

First go to your Windows installation directory, and go to ".SYSTEM32DRIVERSETC". Find the HOST file and open it with notepad. ADD the following lines to the end...

    87.237.39.100 www.eve-online.com
    212.187.162.100 www2.eve-online.com
    87.237.39.201 myeve.eve-online.com
    87.237.39.140 secure.eve-online.com
    63.240.89.10 support.eve-online.com
    157.157.139.90 testpatch.eve-online.com

Don't forget to save. It might take a while for the change to take effect, but it should start working immediately after a reboot.

If for some reason you can no longer reach the web site, it is because the IP Addresses have since been changed. An actual DNS would get automatically updated, but you will either have to update your list manually, or remove / comment out the changes to the HOST file. By the time this happens, fortunately, your ISP should have its DNS working right.

To comment out a line in the HOST file, simply add a # (pound symbol) character in front of it. NEVER delete / comment out the "127.0.0.1 localhost" line.

With this change, you will be able to completly navigate the EVE web page and use the URL instead of the IP. Hope this solves your problem for a while.

    Sorry... mis-understood...

We can agree to disagree, or we can bicker constantly... either way, I'm right.

I'm sure it's been said and I'll reinerate it...

EVE Online is going through anthoer massive hardware upgrade (yardware is obsolete and it's now UBERware!!1)

Generally, downtime for hardware updates is between 12-36 hours.  If you'r ehaving trouble still I would be patient.  The main site is up now so you may be able to connect at the time of my post.  Not sure which features are still offline though.

They are migrating to a true 64bit server.  They installed some massive IBM 64bit Blade Servers running some insane specs for a gaming server and are bringing everything up to speed.  Their initial projections were that this _new_ server would be the FIRST gaming server to be on the top 500 list of fastest computers on the planet Earth.

They could test nuclear explosions on this new server.

I had to log shortly after my post yesterday, but I did try this when I got back on today, and it worked. I'm able to use the whole website now. Thanks a ton for the help.
